What they need
Robert Young Architects Employer New York, NY, USLocation:
Tue, Jul 14 '26Posted On $125,000 - $155,000 annually Pay:
Robert Young Architects is a design-forward residential practice based in West Chelsea, known for architecturally ambitious, meticulously crafted work: ground-up houses, apartments, and interiors for clients who care deeply about what gets built. Our projects are primarily in the tri-state area, with a growing national presence. We're a small, serious office where the work gets noticed and the people who do it are known by name.
We're looking for a Senior Designer / Project Manager who can own a project, not just run it. Someone with real design ability and the rigor to execute it, who understands that managing a project well is itself a form of design thinking.
What We're Looking For
- You have a strong design point of view and aspire to create architecture that enhances lives.
- You understand that excellence lives in the details. You enjoy iterating through as many bad ideas as it takes to get to the one that feels inevitable. You seek responsibility, and excel when you have it.
- You set exacting standards for yourself and inspire them in others.
- You approach challenges with curiosity and humility.
- You have a genuine passion for construction and how buildings actually get made.
- You communicate clearly and can hold a client relationship with confidence.
- You enjoy mentoring junior staff and take that seriously.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing projects, consultants, clients, and budgets independently.
- 10+ years of professional experience in a design-focused practice, with recent work in private residential projects at small to medium-sized firms.
- Professional degree in architecture from a US-accredited school.
- Licensed or on a clear path to licensure.
- Construction Administration experience required.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino or SketchUp, Enscape, and Adobe Suite. Monograph, Asana, or Smartsheet experience a plus.
- Must reside in the NYC metro area with valid US work authorization and fluency in English.
What we offer: Work that matters, on projects that get built and get noticed. A principal actively building toward a partnership model and looking for people who want to grow into that. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, plus a full benefits package.
To apply: Send an email to [email protected] with "PM: [Your Name]" in the subject line. Include a short cover letter explaining why you're the right candidate. Attach your CV as a PDF, and your portfolio as a single PDF under 15MB or as a download link. Please do not send your work as multiple separate image files or attachments. Applications that don't meet these qualifications or follow these instructions won't be reviewed. No phone calls, please.
