Your Task

We are actively seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with proven experience in AWS and Kubernetes to support the application of Digital Construction (Digitale Baubegleitung) which will become the central platform for digitization of construction sites for fiber-rollout in Germany. The application enables the collection of data on newly constructed cable routes using compatible measurement systems, including the creation of photos and 3D models of the trenches. The web application for visualizing collected data and ensuring quality control forms the basis for the automation of documentation, billing, and AI-supported analysis.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure environment on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
• Oversee the deployment, configuration and management of clusters
• Design and manage CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps toolset and skillset
• Collaborate closely with development teams for continuous improvement
• Maintain and adjust monitoring and logging solutions to ensure the health and performance of applications and infrastructure using Opentelemetry monitoring with cloud native toolset
• Ensure that security best practices are followed, including managing access controls, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and consistency across deployments and operations
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of application using strong GitOps approach
• Mentor junior DevOps engineers and provide guidance on best practices
• Ensure application stability (Prod QA) through technical E2E incident analyses/troubleshooting, cooperate on root cause analysis, troubleshooting and Ops Support

Your Profile

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with extensive experience in AWS and Kubernetes to support the Digital Construction platform. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and modern engineering practices, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Must Have Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Interaction Design, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineer roles, ideally in enterprise-grade web applications
• Hands-on experience with designing, developing, deploying and operating cloud platforms, especially AWS
• Configuration management with Terraform
• Knowledge of CaaS (Container as a Service) architecture
• Knowledge of Microservice architectures and REST interfaces (REST API policy)
• Experience with version controlling, code merging and CI/CD workflows and tools with GitLab
• Experience with automation and GitOps practices
• Experience with monitoring and adjustments of automated system health checks
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Opentelemetry (especially Lumina) and Grafana
• Familiarity with DevOps and modern engineering practices
• Experience with a modern language such as Java, Python, or Node.js
• Knowledge of cloud solution design patterns including microservices, messaging, containers, and IAM
• Constructive problem-solving skills
• Self-management and result-oriented mindset
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve issues in a cloud-native environment
• Strong communication skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps, Product Owners, and Hub management
• Attention to detail
• Curious and interested in the latest technologies, especially in cloud, DevOps and modern engineering topics, GitOps
• Fluent English
• Passion for continuous learning and adoption of new technologies

Nice to Have Skills

• German language skills
• Knowledge of Platform security and policies
• Database administration experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience with GeoServer
• Experience with AWS Services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudFormation
