Senior DevOps Engineer with German

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer fluent in German and English to join our team on a 12-month engagement for a leading client in the energy and critical infrastructure sector. The ideal candidate has solid experience running containerised applications in production, building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and working with GitOps, and knows how to prepare business-critical applications for stable operation.

The successful candidate will help move a smart meter data application to a new internal Kubernetes platform. The role covers CI/CD setup, monitoring, setting up a second-level support model (incident and problem handling), writing operating manuals and handing the application over to the client's internal operations team.

Responsibilities:

• Design, set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps , including agent pools.
• Implement GitOps -based deployments using ArgoCD or a similar tool.
• Prepare the application for stable operation on a new Kubernetes platform.
• Set up monitoring and observability for the application and its components.
• Define and set up second-level support processes , including incident and problem management.
• Handle incidents and problems for a business-critical application, and drive root-cause analysis.
• Write operating manuals, runbooks and standard operating procedures.
• Plan and run a structured handover to the client's internal operations team.
• Work closely with developers, platform engineers and operations stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of DevOps experience with containerised applications.
• Hands-on GitOps experience with ArgoCD or a comparable tool.
• Experience designing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps , including agent pools.
• Practical experience with incident and problem management for business-critical applications.
• Experience setting up second-level support processes.
• Experience writing operating manuals and standard operating procedures.
• Fluent German (B2 or higher) and English (B2 or higher), both mandatory.

• Kubernetes, Helm and Azure.
• Deploying Java-based microservice applications; application development experience.
• PowerShell and Linux shell scripting.
• Monitoring and OpenTelemetry.
• JFrog Artifactory, Harness.
• Kafka, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Apache Spark.
• IT operations and provider management experience.
• Experience in energy, utilities or other critical infrastructure environments.
