Senior Director, Development

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Director Development to join the team of a leader in the Energy & Utilities space. This role will drive marketing initiatives focused on growth, customer acquisition, brand performance, and measurable demand creation. You will collaborate with analytics, product, creative, and commercial teams to turn market insights into scalable campaigns, testing strategies, and performance improvements. The position offers the opportunity to directly influence customer engagement, conversion performance, and revenue growth within a Energy & Utilities environment.

Location: Chicago, IL - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $200,000 – $235,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing market strategy and drive execution to meet team goals
• Collaborate with various teams to refine and implement strategies
• Lead project development across the full lifecycle of energy projects
• Manage and mentor team members in negotiation and business development
• Coordinate with internal and external parties to finalize project transactions
• Originate and lead due diligence efforts for project acquisitions
• Partner with Government Affairs for successful permitting outcomes
• Analyze market regulations and provide insights for business strategy
• Support EPC contracting and assist with late-stage project management

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in energy project development, with 4+ years in liquid markets
• Demonstrated success in developing energy projects throughout their lifecycle
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred
• Ability to synthesize complex risks and opportunities into actionable strategies
• Deep understanding of policy, regulatory, and competitive market dynamics
• Self-motivated with high attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Strong interest in working in a collaborative, high-performing team environment
