As our business continues to expand, we are looking for a highly experienced Senior Draughtsman to join our technical design team.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Draughtsman with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in manufacturing and fabrication drawings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating approved concepts and designs into comprehensive, accurate and production-ready technical drawings.

This is a hands-on technical position requiring an excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and practical workshop requirements.

You will work closely with our project management, design and production teams to ensure that every component can be manufactured and assembled accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce highly detailed 2D and 3D manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Develop complete technical drawing packages for production.
• Prepare detailed assembly drawings, component drawings and fabrication specifications.
• Create accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and material schedules.
• Translate approved concept designs into practical manufacturing solutions.
• Produce detailed drawings for steel frameworks, sheet metal components, fittings and assemblies.
• Ensure all drawings include accurate dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and manufacturing instructions.
• Review designs for manufacturability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Work directly with workshop teams to resolve technical queries and manufacturing challenges.
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions and technical documentation.
• Support and guide junior draughtsmen and designers where required.
• Ensure technical drawing packages are completed within agreed project deadlines.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' professional experience in draughting for manufacturing, engineering or fabrication.
• Extensive experience producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD software.
• Excellent understanding of steel fabrication, sheet metal and mechanical assemblies.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and production methods.
• Proven ability to produce complete, production-ready technical drawing packages independently.
• Experience creating bills of materials, cutting lists and assembly documentation.
• Ability to interpret clients wishes on designs and translate them into practical manufacturing drawings.
• Exceptional attention to detail and technical accuracy.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in modular buildings, container conversions or bespoke industrial structures.
• Experience designing steel frameworks and fabricated assemblies.
• Knowledge of CNC cutting, laser cutting and sheet metal fabrication.
• Experience working directly with workshop and production teams.
• Previous experience mentoring junior draughtsmen.
