This is an excellent opportunity to join a major hyperscale data centre development in Dublin, working with an established commissioning team responsible for delivering complex electrical infrastructure and mission-critical systems.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and coordinating electrical commissioning activities, ensuring all systems are tested, validated and handed over safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements.

This is a permanent, Dublin-based position offering long-term career opportunities within the rapidly expanding data centre construction sector.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Commissioning Management

  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day electrical commissioning activities across assigned systems and packages.
  • Oversee electrical vendors, subcontractors and specialist commissioning teams to ensure works are completed safely and to the required quality standards.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are delivered in accordance with approved project specifications, procedures and programme milestones.
  • Monitor vendor performance, track commissioning progress and identify potential delays or technical issues.
  • Coordinate the testing, validation and commissioning of LV, MV and HV electrical systems.
  • Support the development and implementation of commissioning strategies, test procedures and execution plans.
  • Witness electrical commissioning activities and verify compliance with approved test scripts and project documentation.
  • Manage commissioning tagging procedures, system inspections and equipment readiness assessments.

SCADA, Automation & Electrical Controls

  • Carry out site-based testing and validation of control systems incorporating IEC 61850, Modbus TCP and Soft PLC technologies.
  • Review SCADA system configurations, control logic and network architecture to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Support the testing and commissioning of MV protection systems, GOOSE interlocking and electrical process controls.
  • Review and troubleshoot automation systems, control sequences and communication interfaces.
  • Assist with the development and execution of SCADA testing strategies and functional testing procedures.
  • Work with Siemens SIPROTEC protection relays, DIGSI configuration files and associated MV switchgear systems.
  • Verify system resilience, redundancy and operational performance, including N+1 backup power configurations.
  • Support integrated systems testing and the validation of critical power infrastructure.

Programme, Quality & Reporting

  • Work closely with the Commissioning Manager to ensure all electrical commissioning milestones are achieved.
  • Attend daily and weekly commissioning coordination meetings with internal teams, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Prepare weekly commissioning progress reports detailing completed works, outstanding activities and programme risks.
  • Coordinate with the project QA/QC team to ensure all commissioning documentation and quality requirements are satisfied.
  • Liaise with the Energy Marshalling team regarding electrical switching schedules, permits and safe systems of work.
  • Track commissioning documentation including test scripts, compliance statements, inspection records and system handover packs.
  • Identify and resolve commissioning defects, technical issues and outstanding punch-list items.
  • Ensure commissioning activities comply with project EHS procedures and relevant electrical safety standards.
  • Support the successful completion of system handover and project close-out activities.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Degree, diploma or relevant technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a recognised electrical trade qualification with appropriate commissioning experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical commissioning within data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial or large-scale commercial construction environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of LV, MV and HV electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience commissioning electrical infrastructure including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, ATS and associated power distribution equipment.
  • Practical experience with SCADA and automation systems incorporating IEC 61850, Modbus TCP or Soft PLC technologies.

  • Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous commissioning experience on hyperscale data centre projects.
  • Knowledge of Siemens SIPROTEC protection relays and DIGSI configuration software.
  • Experience with SCADA system design, optimisation and control logic review.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming using Function Block Diagram (FBD), Ladder Logic or Sequential Function Chart (SFC).
  • Experience with EPMS, BMS, HVAC control interfaces and integrated systems testing.
  • Understanding of generator control systems, emergency backup power configurations and N+1 redundancy requirements.
  • Experience developing commissioning test strategies, functional test scripts and system validation procedures.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale, fast-track construction projects.
