🚀 The Opportunity

Zircoe Recruitment is partnering with a leading engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team, based in Dublin or the Midlands .

This is a senior technical role for an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in the M&E / construction sector , together with proven High Voltage (HV) and substation experience .

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across electrical projects, coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

🌱 Experience across Solar PV, Wind Farms or other renewable energy projects would be highly desirable.

⚡ Proven substation experience is essential.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

⚡ Electrical Engineering & Technical Leadership

• Lead and manage electrical engineering activities across M&E projects.
• Provide technical leadership to electrical engineers, supervisors and site teams.
• Manage HV electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate and oversee substation installation and commissioning .
• Review electrical drawings, specifications, technical submissions and designs.
• Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, civil, structural and other disciplines.
• Identify technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions.

🏗️ Construction & Project Delivery

• Manage electrical contractors and subcontractors.
• Ensure installations comply with project specifications, relevant Irish standards and safety requirements.
• Review and approve method statements, risk assessments and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) .
• Monitor project progress, quality and technical compliance.
• Support project planning, procurement and construction activities.
• Manage snagging, handover and project close-out.

🔌 Testing, Commissioning & Energisation

• Coordinate electrical testing, commissioning and energisation.
• Oversee HV/MV electrical installation and commissioning activities.
• Support grid connection and energisation activities where required.
• Ensure testing and commissioning documentation is completed accurately and maintained throughout the project.

🤝 Stakeholder Management

• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure effective project delivery.
• Manage relationships with electrical contractors and subcontractors.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams.

🌱 EP&R Projects

• Support the delivery of Energy, Power & Renewables projects across Ireland.
• Travel regularly to EP&R project sites as required.
• Contribute to renewable energy projects including solar PV, wind and utility infrastructure where applicable.

👤 About You

We're looking for a technically strong Senior Electrical Engineer with significant experience in M&E / construction , combined with hands-on HV and substation experience .

⚠️ Essential Requirements

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant experience as an Electrical Engineer within the M&E / construction sector .
• Strong High Voltage (HV) experience.
• Proven substation experience – essential.
• Experience with HV/MV switchgear, transformers, protection systems and electrical distribution.
• Experience in electrical testing, commissioning and energisation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical installation standards and practices.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within the construction environment.
• Experience managing electrical works on large-scale projects.
• Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Ireland.

⭐ Desirable Experience

• Experience working on Solar PV / Solar Farm projects .
• Experience working on Wind Farm projects .
• Renewable energy and grid connection experience.
• Experience with HV grid connections.
• Knowledge of SCADA, protection and control systems .
• Experience with utility or renewable-energy substations.
• HV Authorisation / switching experience.
• Chartered Engineer status or progression towards Chartered status.
