Senior Electrical Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design review, TAQA approvals and technical delivery across our building projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review IFC designs and shop drawings, including those prepared by others, and issue comments against TAQA Distribution requirements and specifications.
• Prepare and check shop drawings: SLDs, floor load schedules, power and lighting layouts, LV cable routes, earthing and lightning protection.
• Carry out and verify calculations: load schedules, maximum demand, cable sizing, voltage drop, short circuit, protection coordination, earthing and lighting levels.
• Lead TAQA Distribution submissions: LV drawing approvals, load applications, NOCs, inspection requests and comment close-out.
• Prepare and review technical submittals for LV and ELV equipment — LV panels, distribution boards, cables, wiring devices, lighting and ELV systems — against specifications.
• Write and review method statements; answer RFIs and site technical queries.
• Propose value engineering and technically compliant alternatives that protect programme and margin.
• Support tendering with quantity take-offs, technical clarifications and compliance statements.
• Coordinate with consultants, main contractors, other MEP disciplines and suppliers.
• Guide and check the work of Electrical & ELV Engineers and Draftsmen; set internal technical standards.
• Witness testing and commissioning and confirm readiness for TAQA inspection and supply activation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering on building projects for contractors or consultants, including 5+ years in Abu Dhabi or the wider UAE.
• ADQCC-approved Electrical Engineer.
• Hands-on experience obtaining TAQA Distribution (ADDC/AADC) drawing and load approvals for building LV distribution.
• Proficient in ETAP (or equivalent), DIALux, AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Sound knowledge of the Abu Dhabi Electricity Wiring Regulations, TAQA Distribution standards, BS 7671/IEC standards and Civil Defence requirements.

Preferred

• UAE Society of Engineers membership.
• Design experience across building types: residential buildings and villas, schools, commercial and government buildings.
• Working knowledge of ELV system design: structured cabling, CCTV, access control, intercom and MATV/IPTV.
• Valid UAE driving licence.

Pay: AED10,000.00 - AED15,000.00 per month
