Senior Electrical Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing transportation and facilities practice. This individual will lead the design and delivery of complex electrical engineering projects for public-sector clients, with a focus on rail and transit infrastructure as well as institutional and public facility projects.

The successful candidate will bring a diverse background spanning transit systems, rail infrastructure, stations, substations, maintenance facilities, educational facilities, public housing developments, and other municipal or public-sector buildings. Experience working with agencies such as MTA, NYCT, LIRR, Metro-North, NYCHA, SCA, Port Authority, DASNY, or similar organizations is highly desirable.

This is a hands-on design leadership role that combines technical expertise, project coordination, and staff mentorship. The selected candidate will serve as a key contributor in developing innovative and code-compliant electrical designs while helping guide multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering design experience.
• Demonstrated experience supporting both transportation infrastructure and facility/building projects.
• Strong understanding of medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency power systems, and building electrical infrastructure.
• Experience preparing construction documents, engineering calculations, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit.
• Experience using power system analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary design efforts and effectively communicate with clients and project stakeholders.
• Willingness to perform occasional site visits and night work when required for field investigations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or progression toward licensure.
• Direct experience working with MTA agencies including NYCT, LIRR, and Metro-North.
• Experience delivering projects for NYCHA, SCA, Port Authority, DASNY, DDC, or other public-sector agencies.
• Background in traction power systems, substations, rail electrification, or other transit-specific electrical systems.
• Experience with electrical design for schools, public housing developments, maintenance facilities, transportation hubs, and government buildings.
• Familiarity with NYC Electrical Code, NYC Building Code, NFPA standards, MTA design criteria, NYCHA design requirements, and SCA design standards.
• Previous experience serving as a discipline lead, task lead, or deputy design manager on large-scale capital programs.
