Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager

About the Opportunity

Talyx Search is partnering with an engineering firm that delivers electrical design for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. They're looking for a senior electrical engineer in the Dallas area who enjoys owning projects end to end and wants to play a real part in growing the next generation of engineers on their team.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You'll take projects from early scoping and proposal work through design, bidding, and construction support, right up to final handover. You'll also be the go-to person for junior engineers and designers looking for direction on their work.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading electrical design on water and wastewater treatment projects
• Owning projects from start to finish, including:
• Scope development and proposal support before award
• Design packages at 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC milestones
• Bid phase and construction phase services
• Acting as the main contact for clients, running project meetings and building long-term relationships
• Keeping your projects on scope, on schedule, and on budget
• Overseeing the production of:
• Engineering calculations and analyses
• Electrical drawings and technical specs
• Procurement and construction packages
• Designing electrical systems such as:
• Medium and low voltage distribution
• MCCs
• Engine generators and standby power
• Paralleling switchgear and protective relaying
• Lighting, grounding, and related controls
• Writing and reviewing proposals, technical reports, and cost estimates
• Performing engineering analysis to support design, procurement, and construction decisions
• Working closely with civil, mechanical, and I&C disciplines so the full design comes together cleanly
• Running QA/QC reviews on deliverables
• Handling submittals, RFIs, and shop drawing reviews during construction
• Contributing to OPCCs and quantity take-offs

Developing the Team

• Giving junior engineers and designers technical direction and day-to-day guidance
• Reviewing their work and giving clear, practical feedback
• Helping bring new hires up to speed
• Setting and reinforcing design standards and best practices
• Pulling junior staff into client conversations, problem-solving, and real project work so they grow faster

What You'll Need

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
• Active Texas PE license
• 10 to 15+ years of electrical engineering experience, ideally with a consulting, A&E, or MEP firm
• Solid background in:
• MV and LV power distribution
• Switchgear, generators, and protective relaying
• Electrical design for infrastructure or industrial facilities
• A track record of managing projects, clients, and people
• Experience producing and reviewing construction documents and specifications
• Strong working knowledge of the NEC and other applicable codes

Nice to Have

• Water or wastewater treatment plant experience
• Exposure to distributed energy systems and how they integrate
• AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Working knowledge of:
• Arc flash and coordination studies
• VFDs and motor control design
• SCADA and I&C coordination (supporting, not leading)
• FAT and SAT support experience
• Experience working with municipalities or public agencies
