Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join our MEP project team in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, execution, coordination, supervision, and successful delivery of all electrical works in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, authority requirements, safety standards, and project schedules.

The candidate should have strong UAE experience in MEP contracting, with the ability to independently manage electrical works from technical review and material submittals through site execution, testing, commissioning, and handover.

Candidates who are currently available in the UAE and can join immediately will be given preference.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all electrical works from mobilization through testing, commissioning, and project handover.
• Review IFC drawings, specifications, BOQ, approved shop drawings, and project requirements before execution.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor electrical installation activities in accordance with approved project schedules.
• Supervise installation of:
• LV power distribution systems
• MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, and associated panels
• Lighting and emergency lighting systems
• Small power systems
• Cable containment systems
• Earthing and lightning protection systems
• ELV systems
• Fire alarm systems
• Structured cabling and communication systems
• Other electrical and associated MEP systems
• Coordinate electrical works with Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Architectural, Structural, and Civil disciplines.
• Review and coordinate electrical shop drawings, coordination drawings, builders' work drawings, and as-built drawings.
• Identify design discrepancies, technical conflicts, and site coordination issues and raise RFIs where required.
• Prepare and review technical submittals, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and related project documentation.
• Coordinate with consultants and clients for inspections, approvals, technical clarifications, and work acceptance.
• Ensure materials delivered to site comply with approved material submittals and project specifications.
• Monitor subcontractors, supervisors, technicians, and site teams to ensure work is executed correctly and efficiently.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship, progress, quality, and compliance with approved drawings.
• Coordinate with procurement teams for timely material procurement and delivery.
• Prepare material requirements and assist with quantity take-offs and technical procurement evaluations.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, technical risks, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with planning teams to ensure electrical activities are aligned with the approved project programme.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports as required.
• Attend project coordination meetings, technical meetings, and site progress meetings.
• Ensure compliance with project QA/QC procedures and resolve NCRs, inspection comments, and outstanding technical issues.
• Ensure all electrical works are performed in accordance with applicable HSE requirements.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems.
• Prepare and close inspection requests, testing records, snag lists, and commissioning documentation.
• Support preparation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, authority documentation, and final handover records.
• Provide technical guidance to Electrical Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, and subcontractors.
• Ensure electrical works are completed within approved budget, quality requirements, and project deadlines.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in construction or MEP projects.
• Minimum 5 years of UAE/GCC experience is highly preferred.
• Strong experience working with MEP contracting or general contracting companies.
• Proven experience managing electrical works on large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, warehouse, residential, or similar projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE electrical installation practices and authority requirements.
• Experience dealing with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and authority representatives.

Technical Knowledge

Candidates should have strong practical knowledge of:

• LV electrical distribution systems
• MDB, SMDB, DB, MCC and electrical panels
• Cable sizing and voltage-drop calculations
• Load schedules and single-line diagrams
• Power and lighting systems
• Emergency lighting systems
• Earthing and lightning protection systems
• Cable trays, trunking, conduits, and containment systems
• ELV and fire alarm systems
• Electrical equipment installation
• Testing and commissioning procedures
• Electrical shop drawings and coordination drawings
• Technical submittals and material approvals
• Inspection requests and QA/QC documentation
• As-built drawings and project handover documentation

Software Skills

• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with Revit MEP / BIM will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with project planning or document management systems will be an advantage.

• Previous experience managing electrical works independently on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of UAE authority and consultant approval processes.
• Candidates with experience in Abu Dhabi projects will be preferred.
