Senior Electrical Technician (Water Plant)

Senior Electrical Technician position at a water plant responsible for conducting routine inspections and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on HV/LV power systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, variable speed drives, and distribution networks.

Job responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HV/LV power systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, variable speed drives, and distribution networks
• Troubleshoot electrical faults, diagnose issues using testing instruments and software tools and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability
• Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and optimization of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with EMSD Code of Practice (CoP) and relevant standards
• Perform power system analysis (e.g., load flow, short circuit studies) and support network upgrades or reinforcements, particularly in infrastructure facilities such as water treatment plants
• Support routine and emergency maintenance on pumps, HVAC, OHT cranes, backup generators and auxiliary utility systems to minimize downtime
• Participate in emergency repair and recovery works during adverse weather conditions, including Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, as required

Requirements:

• Higher Diploma or above in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years in power systems/utilities, preferably in water treatment or utilities plants
• Holder of a valid Grade B Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker
• Holder of a Confined Space Worker Certificate is preferred
• Good command of Chinese and basic English
• Willingness to participate in on-call duty, overtime work, emergency response activities, and work under adverse weather conditions when required
