What they need
Senior Electronics Engineer – Permanent
We are working with a globally recognised analytical instrumentation company based in Limerick to find an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join their Hardware Engineering team, working onsite a minimum of four days per week. This is a permanent opportunity with a well-established organisation whose instruments are used by scientists and clinicians around the world.
If you are a hands-on electronics engineer who enjoys getting into the lab, bringing up boards and getting to the root of complex hardware problems, this is a great opportunity to join a small, collaborative team and work on products that make a real difference in science and healthcare.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Designing and developing electronic hardware systems, subsystems and PCBAs for new and existing instrumentation platforms.
- Leading board bring-up, hardware validation and verification activities.
- Carrying out hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause investigations in a laboratory environment.
- Performing schematic and PCB design reviews and contributing to electronic architectures and technical requirements.
- Supporting component lifecycle and obsolescence work, including evaluating and qualifying alternate components.
- Collaborating with Firmware, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality and international engineering teams, as well as external partners and suppliers.
- Mentoring other engineers informally and contributing to technical excellence across the team.
What We Are Looking For:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
- 8+ years’ experience in electronic product development, with strong analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit design skills.
- Proven hands-on experience in PCB design and debugging, DC-DC power conversion and power-supply design.
- Confident use of lab test and measurement equipment and a structured approach to fault finding.
- Experience in Life Sciences, Medical Device, Diagnostics or Scientific Instrumentation, or other regulated product development, would be a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with FPGA/CPLD-based systems and ECAD tools such as Altium, OrCAD, PADS or KiCad is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain your design decisions and technical trade-offs.
Other offers great for you!
