What they need
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Electrical Engineer to join Our Client, a forward-thinking company operating within the space industry. Renowned for innovative solutions and technological excellence, Our Client is committed to shaping the future of satellite power systems. Their dynamic environment fosters personal growth, collaboration, and cutting-edge development, making it an inspiring place for talented engineers to thrive.
This pivotal role is instrumental in advancing the company's mission to deliver reliable, high-performance power systems for commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. As part of a small, dedicated team, you will have the unique opportunity to see your designs progress from conceptual calculations through to flight hardware, directly contributing to space exploration and sustainable space initiatives.
Role Overview:
The Senior Embedded Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in defining and developing embedded control electronics for satellite power systems. You will lead the design and implementation of microcontroller-based electronics and embedded software architectures that coordinate complex subsystems, including power conversion, battery management, and telemetry. This role offers a chance to work on mission-critical systems with a direct impact on space technology and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and specify embedded software architecture for satellite power systems, ensuring seamless integration between subsystems such as power conversion, batteries, and spacecraft communication interfaces.
- Implement digital control algorithms on DSP/MCU platforms, including control loops, measurement, and signal processing.
- Design microcontroller-based circuit schematics and select appropriate MCUs, peripherals, and interfaces (ADC, PWM, communication protocols).
- Build, test, and debug prototypes in a laboratory setting, ensuring successful hardware/software integration and validation.
- Create algorithms for battery management functions such as charge/discharge strategies, telemetry, and control loop optimisation.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- A professional engineering degree (MSc or equivalent) in electrical engineering or embedded systems.
- Over five years of hands-on experience designing control electronics within embedded environments.
- Proficiency in embedded C or Rust programming tailored to real-time control applications on DSP/MCU platforms.
- Strong understanding of embedded software architecture for multifaceted systems.
- Solid knowledge of microcontroller peripherals, including ADCs, PWM modules, timers, and communication buses (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART).
- Fundamental understanding of control theory and its digital application.
- Practical experience with mixed-signal design, signal conditioning, and electronic protections.
- Confident in laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and hardware/software integration.
Additional Skills & Experience (Desirable):
- Experience working within aerospace, automotive, or high-reliability industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with power systems, especially battery energy storage, MPPT, and energy conversion technologies.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
If you are passionate about space technology, possess the required expertise, and are eager to contribute to groundbreaking satellite projects, we invite you to submit your CV. Join Our Client's talented team where your innovations could reach the stars.
