You will work across firmware, hardware, communication protocols, and connectivity layers to deliver reliable products for harsh industrial environments.
The client is a global industrial technology company providing mission-critical process heating, controls, and monitoring solutions to industries including energy, power generation, semiconductors, chemicals, food processing, and transportation. The role is based in Austin, TX, and is onsite.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and maintain production-quality firmware for industrial control devices.
- Collaborate on schematic review, board bring-up, and design validation.
- Debug hardware-firmware issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and fault isolation.
- Implement user interfaces, real-time control loops, watchdog circuits, and safe operating state machines.
- Integrate Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN Bus, MQTT, RS-485, Ethernet, USB, and 2.4GHz wireless stacks.
- Develop production test firmware and factory acceptance test tooling for manufacturing handoff.
- Manage firmware releases through version control and contribute to system documentation.
- Drive engineering best practices through code reviews, mentorship, and continuous improvement.

- Five or more years of professional embedded firmware development for production hardware products.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ for ARM Cortex-M, STM32, or similar microcontroller targets.
- Python experience for test development.
- Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or an equivalent RTOS.
- Experience with GUI toolkits such as TouchGFX, LVGL, emWin, Embedded Wizard, or Qt for MCUs.
- Strong understanding of interrupts, timers, DMA, GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, and DAC.
- Experience debugging hardware-firmware interactions with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD debuggers.
- Familiarity with Modbus, CAN Bus, RS-485, and BACnet.
- Ability to read and review schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer or equivalent.
- Understanding of firmware release processes, version management, and manufacturing handoff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with IIoT connectivity, hardware certification, functional safety, factory testing, CI/CD, bootloaders, or secure OTA updates.
