What they need
Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer - Austin, TX | Hybrid
I'm working with an Austin-based engineering company looking to add an experienced Embedded Hardware Engineer to a growing product development team.
This is a genuinely hands-on position for someone who can take ownership of embedded electronics from early architecture and component selection through schematic design, PCB layout, board bring-up, validation and production.
We're particularly interested in engineers who are comfortable working across the hardware/firmware boundary rather than operating exclusively on one side.
What you'll be working on:
- Design and development of custom embedded electronics.
- Component selection, schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout.
- Hardware development from prototype through validation and production.
- Board bring-up, debugging and failure investigation.
- Low-power design and power-management strategies.
- BLE and other wireless connectivity technologies.
- Embedded C/C++ development and debugging on MCU-based platforms.
- Debugging complex issues across hardware and firmware.
- EMC/EMI, signal integrity and product reliability.
- Hands-on laboratory testing using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs and other bench equipment.
- Supporting future hardware architecture and new product development.
What we're hoping to find:
- Strong professional embedded hardware / electronics engineering experience.
- A track record of personally designing custom PCBs from schematic through layout and bring-up.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics.
- Experience developing low-power embedded products.
- Experience with BLE or other wireless technologies.
- Working knowledge of Embedded C/C++ and MCU-based development.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M or similar embedded platforms.
- Comfortable debugging both hardware and firmware.
- Experience taking physical products from prototype into production.
- Altium Designer experience would be particularly relevant.
Useful additional experience:
- RTOS or bare-metal firmware development.
- BSP / SDK development.
- Additional wireless communication technologies.
- IoT or connected-device development.
- Hardware designed for demanding real-world environments.
- Experience working within smaller or highly hands-on engineering teams.
Other offers great for you!
