Senior EMV Test Analyst (Level 3 Certification)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior EMV Test Analyst (Level 3 Certification) to lead, diagnose, and complete Level 3 (L3) payment processor certifications across physical card-present hardware. In this role, you will be the primary expert responsible for troubleshooting and resolving UL Brand Test Tool and ICC test failures across major processors (such as Fiserv and TSYS). You will work directly with hardware terminals from leading vendors (Verifone, PAX, Ingenico) to drive certifications from initial test planning through final processor sign-off, ensuring seamless, compliant payment processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Certification Execution & Sign-Off: Lead end-to-end Level 3 processor certifications on card-present terminals, taking full ownership from test case planning to final processor approval.
• Troubleshooting & Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve complex UL and ICC certification test failures across multiple payment processors; analyze terminal transaction logs, APDU messages, and host communication strings.
• Production Support & Escalation: Act as the primary subject matter expert and escalation point for production payment defects, collaborating with hardware vendors and processors on resolution.
• Cross-Functional Partner Management: Serve as the technical intermediary between internal teams, card brands, payment processors, and hardware terminal vendors to drive alignment and clear project blockers.
• Process Improvement & Compliance: Evaluate test procedures and controls to streamline execution, increase testing efficiency, and ensure strict alignment with PCI DSS, EMVCo, and brand standards.
• Technical Communication: Translate technical test logs, defect patterns, and system recommendations into actionable insights for both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• L3 Certification Track Record: Proven hands-on experience completing Level 3 card-present processor certifications on payment terminals (Verifone, PAX, and/or Ingenico). Note: Pure e-commerce experience will not meet this requirement.
• Payments & EMV Expertise: 4+ years of dedicated experience in payment capture, processing, EMV contact/contactless standards, encryption, and tokenization.
• Test Tool Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience using UL Brand Test Tool (BTT), ICC solutions, or equivalent brand certification suites.
• Location: Must be based in the United States.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).

Skills & Competencies

• Card-Present Terminal Architecture: Deep technical understanding of terminal hardware/software configurations, kernel behaviors, and hardware integration interfaces.
• Processor & Protocol Knowledge: Strong understanding of ISO 8583 message formats, host-terminal communication protocols, API integrations, and major processing networks (Fiserv and TSYS experience highly preferred).
• Compliance & Security: Solid working knowledge of PCI DSS, EMVCo specifications, and card brand operating regulations.
• Analytical Problem Solving: Exceptional diagnostic skills with a proven ability to identify recurring log patterns and resolve hardware/network defects quickly.
• Communication & Project Management: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational ability to manage competing certification deadlines.
