Senior Energy Engineer

Job Summary

Conduct thermal energy audits and identify decarbonisation opportunities for industrial applications, with primary focus on heat pump and heat recovery solutions.

The role covers three key areas:

(1) establishing reliable energy baselines,

(2) identifying and quantifying heat pump opportunities, and

(3) verifying actual energy savings after implementation.

Key Responsibilities

● Conduct thermal energy audits covering process heating, hot water, steam / boiler, chilled water and cooling systems.

● Plan appropriate measurements and data logging to establish reliable and defensible energy baselines.

● Understand customer processes and identify heat sources, heat demands, rejected heat and energy losses suitable for heat pump or heat recovery applications.

● Quantify opportunities including thermal load, energy consumption, potential energy / cost savings and CO₂ reduction.

● Evaluate preliminary project viability including CAPEX, payback and ROI for energy saving and 0-CAPEX projects.

● Prepare audit calculations, findings and technical recommendations for Engineering / R&D to develop the heat pump solution.

● Work with customers, sales to clarify process requirements and technical feasibility.

● Conduct post installation Measurement & Verification (M&V) to verify actual system performance, COP and energy savings.

Who You Should Be?

● Strong analytical and problem solving mindset with an interest in thermal energy and industrial processes.

● Able to independently determine what to measure, where to measure and how to establish a reliable baseline.

● Able to walk into an unfamiliar facility and understand where heat is generated, consumed, rejected or wasted.

● Able to identify and quantify potential heat pump and heat recovery opportunities.

● Hands on, proactive, independent and comfortable working in factories and plant rooms.

● Able to clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to customers and internal teams.

Who Are We Looking For?

● Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Energy Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.

● Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in thermal energy auditing, energy efficiency, industrial utilities, HVAC, process systems or related fields.

● Registered Energy Manager Type 2 (REM2) / Registered Energy Auditor (REA) with thermal energy experience.

● Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid systems and energy balance.

● Experience with boilers / steam, chilled water, hot water, process heating / cooling, heat pumps or heat recovery is preferred.

● Hands on experience with flow, temperature, power, fuel / steam measurement and data logging is an advantage.

● Experience in measurement & verification, energy saving calculations and technical reporting is preferred.

● Proficient in AI tools for engineering analysis and reporting.

● Willing to travel throughout Malaysia.
