Senior Engineer

About the role

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for leading and delivering civil and water-related engineering projects from planning and technical assessment through design, reporting, coordination, and implementation. The role requires strong technical capability, sound engineering judgement, effective project coordination, and the ability to guide junior engineers while ensuring that project deliverables meet technical, contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.

The Senior Engineer will work closely with project managers, clients, authorities, consultants, contractors, and internal technical teams and may be required to lead technical discussions, review engineering outputs, and provide recommendations on complex engineering issues.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and carry out technical studies, engineering assessments, design calculations, and analyses for civil engineering and water-related projects.
• Plan and coordinate engineering activities to ensure that project deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and within the agreed schedule.
• Lead or support projects involving drainage, flood mitigation, river engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, water resources, infrastructure, earthworks, and other related civil engineering works.
• Review project requirements, available data, survey information, previous studies, drawings, specifications, and authority requirements before commencement of technical work.
• Develop engineering methodologies, assumptions, design criteria, modelling approaches, and technical work plans suitable for the project requirements.
• Carry out and review hydrological and hydraulic analyses, including rainfall analysis, runoff estimation, flood assessment, river and drainage modelling, water level assessment, and related technical studies.
• Develop, review, and interpret engineering models using relevant modelling software and ensure that model setup, assumptions, parameters, boundary conditions, calibration, and results are technically reasonable.
• Review engineering calculations, drawings, technical figures, maps, schedules, and modelling outputs prepared by junior engineers and technical staff.
• Prepare, review, and finalise technical reports, feasibility studies, design reports, tender documents, technical proposals, presentations, and submissions.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and supervision to junior engineers, graduate engineers, technicians, and interns.
