(Senior) Engineer, Fire Services Systems / Fire Protection

The MRDI is looking for a dynamic and high-calibre professional to fill the position of (Senior) Engineer, Fire Services Systems/ Fire Protection to support the operation, maintenance and management of fire protection and other emergency systems, including Automatic Fire Alarm (AFA) systems at the Microelectronics Centre (MEC), ensuring their safe and reliable operation. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the operation, maintenance, testing and inspection of fire protection and life safety systems within the Microelectronics Centre (MEC).
• Monitor the performance of fire alarm, sprinkler, hydrant, fire pump, smoke control, gas suppression and other fire service systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Coordinate and supervise fire service contractors and maintenance service providers to ensure work quality, safety and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Support fire system troubleshooting, failure investigation and corrective actions to minimise operational risks and system downtime.
• Assist in statutory inspections, audits and submissions related to fire service installations and regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, government authorities, consultants and contractors on fire safety and fire protection matters.
• Review fire protection requirements for facility modification, fit-out and upgrade projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, certificates and technical documentation.
• Support emergency response planning, fire drills, safety training and related EHS initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors。

REQUIREMENTS

• A bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering, Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in fire protection systems, fire service installations, facilities engineering or building services engineering.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, laboratories, data centres or other mission-critical facilities will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with Hong Kong Fire Services Department (FSD) requirements and fire service installation practices.
• Hands-on experience in contractor management, fire system maintenance, testing, inspection and troubleshooting.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua).
• Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and meet tight deadlines

Note: The actual rank and position offered will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience.

The initial employment contract spans 24 months and can be renewed with a longer tenure upon mutual agreement of the incumbent and MRDI. The incumbent will normally work five days a week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A gratuity of 15% of the salary will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the contract.
