Senior Engineer, Legal - Canada Remote

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Engineer, Legal - Canada Remote to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space.

This role will partner closely with legal stakeholders to streamline workflows and identify high-impact automation opportunities. The engineer will design and build AI-powered legal applications that improve efficiency, support secure handling of sensitive content, and enable practical adoption of modern AI tools across the legal function. In addition, this person will mentor team members and help translate legal needs into production-ready technical solutions.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Partner with legal stakeholders to understand workflows and identify automation opportunities
• Design and build AI-powered legal applications using modern AI technologies
• Write clean, well-tested code for production applications using LLM APIs and orchestration frameworks
• Implement data security controls and access management for applications handling legal content
• Lead and mentor legal team members in developing no-code AI solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, or machine learning engineering with evidence of shipping production applications
• Production experience with large language models (LLMs), including prompt engineering and fine-tuning
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML libraries such as LangChain and Hugging Face; additional proficiency in TypeScript or Java is a plus
• Demonstrated interest or experience in legal or compliance domains
