About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer with strong experience in mechanical machine design to join our design team in Pune. The position involves developing SPMs, fixtures, tooling, and industrial equipment from initial concept through detailed design, manufacturing, assembly, and trials.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Creo and AutoCAD and a practical understanding of fabrication, machining, assembly, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo and AutoCAD.
• Design SPMs, fixtures, tooling, and customized industrial machinery.
• Convert customer and project requirements into practical mechanical designs.
• Prepare part, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing drawings.
• Create and maintain BOMs, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Carry out design calculations and verify mechanical design requirements.
• Select appropriate materials and standard mechanical components.
• Apply suitable fits, tolerances, GD&T, and functional requirements.
• Coordinate with production, fabrication, purchase, quality, assembly, and project teams.
• Check design feasibility before releasing drawings for manufacturing.
• Participate in machine assembly, trials, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Review shop-floor feedback and make necessary design modifications.
• Check drawings prepared by junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Maintain drawing revisions and other design records.
• Contribute to design standardization, process improvement, and cost reduction.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with PTC Creo for modelling, assemblies, and detailing.
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD and 2D drawing preparation.
• Strong understanding of mechanical machine design.
• Knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly practices.
• Practical experience in SPM / industrial machinery design.
• Understanding of materials, fits, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Ability to select bearings, fasteners, drives, and other standard components.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
• Good engineering problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to read, review, and interpret manufacturing drawings.
• Good coordination and team-handling skills.
• Familiarity with ERP or engineering documentation systems will be an advantage.

Experience

• 8–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design.
• Experience in SPM, machine design, or industrial equipment is required.
• Manufacturing / industrial experience is mandatory.
• Experience preparing fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Experience taking projects through design, manufacturing, assembly, and machine trials.
• Experience independently managing design activities will be preferred.
• Previous experience mentoring junior design engineers is an advantage.

BE / B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering
