Senior Engineer - OpenBMC

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Engineer - OpenBMC to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space.

This role will focus on developing and sustaining firmware that powers hardware management and platform enablement in a manufacturing and automotive environment. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to port, integrate, and validate system-level software across embedded platforms. The position also calls for hands-on troubleshooting of interfaces and protocols that support reliable device management and release readiness.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $120,000 – $145,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain firmware features for an open-source baseboard management controller environment
• Port, migrate, integrate, and debug BMC software across platforms
• Analyze upstream changes and implement required changesets
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support platform enablement
• Implement and validate management protocols and hardware interfaces
• Participate in troubleshooting, testing, and release activities

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in OpenBMC/BMC firmware development
• Strong hands-on experience with OpenBMC
• Good knowledge of hardware interfaces such as I2C, UART, and GPIO
• Expertise in protocols such as MCTP, PLDM, and NVMe-MI
• Familiarity with Yocto-based build environments
• Strong programming skills in C/C++
• Python knowledge is a plus
