Senior Engineer – Supplier Development

4. Key ResponsibilitiesSupplier Development & SourcingIdentify and develop new suppliers for outsourced components and special processes.Evaluate supplier capabilities, infrastructure, machinery, manpower, capacity, and technical competence.Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments as required.Develop alternate and backup suppliers to reduce supply and business risks.Maintain an updated supplier database and supplier capability records.RFQ & Cost ManagementPrepare and release RFQs based on drawings, specifications and technical requirements.Obtain and analyze supplier quotations and conduct commercial negotiations.Benchmark supplier prices against market conditions and previous purchase prices.Drive cost reduction through VA/VE, process improvement, localization, and alternate sourcing.Support management in obtaining competitive pricing and cost approvals.Technical & New Product DevelopmentReview drawings and specifications with suppliers to assess manufacturability.Coordinate with Engineering/Quality teams for technical clarifications.Identify suitable manufacturing processes and suppliers for new components.Coordinate prototype, sample, first-off, and trial production activities.Follow up on development timelines and ensure parts are available as per project requirements.Supplier QualityCoordinate with Quality teams for supplier qualification and process approvals.Ensure suppliers understand quality standards, specifications, inspection requirements, and documentation.Support resolution of supplier quality issues and implementation of corrective actions.Monitor recurring quality problems and initiate supplier improvement activities.Delivery & Production SupportMonitor supplier capacity and production plans to ensure timely delivery.Follow up on open purchase orders for new development and prodution part support required.Identify potential delivery risks and take preventive actions.Coordinate with suppliers during shortages, urgent requirements, and production-critical situations.Support expediting activities for critical components.Supplier Performance ManagementMonitor supplier performance based on Quality, Cost, Delivery, Responsiveness, and Capacity.Conduct regular supplier review meetings for development parts.Escalate critical supplier issues to management and concerned departments.6. Required QualificationBachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.5–10 years of experience in outsourcing, procurement, supplier development, vendor development, or manufacturing.

Experience in engineering/manufacturing industries preferred.

Technical SkillsGood knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, fabrication, sheet metal, casting, forging, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment, and assembly.Ability to understand engineering drawings, GD&T and technical specifications.Knowledge of supplier evaluation and development processes.Good negotiation and cost-analysis skills.Knowledge of ERP systems and MS Excel.Understanding of ISO/QMS requirements is preferred.

Pay: ₹570,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
