Job Description

Aztec Middle East Contracting LLC is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Estimator to join our Head Office Estimation & Tendering Team.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in construction cost estimation, tender preparation, quantity surveying, and commercial evaluation of civil construction projects. The selected candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, evaluating tender opportunities, and supporting the successful acquisition of new projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil construction, building, and renovation projects based on tender drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
• Review and analyze tender documents, contractual conditions, technical specifications, and project requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare, review, and validate Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Develop comprehensive cost breakdowns covering materials, manpower, equipment, subcontractor works, preliminaries, overheads, and project-related expenses.
• Obtain, evaluate, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and commercially viable pricing.
• Prepare complete technical and commercial tender submissions in coordination with internal departments.
• Identify discrepancies, omissions, ambiguities, and potential risks in tender drawings and specifications.
• Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings, and clarification meetings when required.
• Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal engineering teams to clarify technical and commercial requirements.
• Conduct value engineering exercises and recommend cost-effective construction methods, materials, and alternative solutions.
• Review project variations, additional works, and change orders to assess cost implications.
• Maintain updated material rates, subcontractor pricing databases, and historical project cost records.
• Support tender negotiations, post-tender clarifications, and project handover to execution teams.
• Guide and review the work of junior estimators and quantity surveyors to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Ensure tender submissions are completed accurately and within specified deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in estimation and tendering within the construction or contracting industry.
• Previous UAE/GCC construction industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in preparing and managing tenders for civil construction, building, and renovation projects.
• Strong knowledge of quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, rate analysis, and construction costing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PlanSwift, advanced MS Excel, and relevant estimation software.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, tendering procedures, material specifications, and subcontractor pricing.
• Strong analytical, commercial evaluation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently handle complex tender packages and coordinate multiple submissions.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with management, consultants, suppliers, and project teams.
