Senior Estimator

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our commercial construction team. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including ground-up construction, tenant improvements, renovations, and design-build projects.

This individual will work closely with Preconstruction, Project Management, Operations, subcontractors, and clients to develop comprehensive proposals and support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating process for commercial construction projects from initial bid review through final proposal submission.
• Review architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, general conditions, and other project costs.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis to establish competitive project budgets.
• Solicit, review, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure complete and competitive bids.
• Identify scope gaps, potential risks, project exclusions, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop bid strategies, value engineering options, and alternative construction solutions.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, conduct site visits, and evaluate existing site conditions.
• Prepare detailed bid summaries, proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns for management and clients.
• Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Collaborate with Project Managers during project handoffs to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior estimators and estimating team members.
• Manage multiple projects and bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor.
• Extensive knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, building systems, and industry standards.
• Proven experience estimating commercial ground-up construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and other commercial projects.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, PlanSwift, or similar estimating software.
• Experience with negotiated work, hard bids, design-build, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) contracts.
• Established relationships with commercial subcontractors and material suppliers.
