Scope of Project:

The Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking a Senior Tableau Report Developer / ETL Developer to support the Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) initiative. The consultant will be responsible for developing Tableau reports, ETL solutions, SSIS packages, SSRS reports, and complex SQL-based solutions supporting mission-critical child welfare applications. The candidate will participate throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and production support activities.

Responsibilities:

• Develop Tableau dashboards and operational reports.
• Design and develop database architectures, data marts, data dictionaries, and data models.
• Develop strategies for data acquisition, data quality, and discrepancy resolution.
• Support migration and integration of data from legacy systems to modern platforms.
• Create and maintain complex SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and T-SQL solutions.
• Design, develop, and implement ETL/ELT solutions for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution.
• Implement Data Analytics and Data Modeling best practices.
• Develop near real-time data processing solutions.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts and end users to validate business requirements.
• Integrate external data sources with internal systems.
• Perform ETL testing, validation, reconciliation, and error handling.
• Optimize SQL queries and SSIS package performance.
• Create SSIS packages involving file transfer, FTP, and SFTP integrations.
• Participate in all SDLC phases including requirements gathering, mapping, development, testing, troubleshooting, optimization, and documentation.
• Develop and deploy Tableau reports to report servers.
• Build advanced Tableau reports utilizing dynamic grouping, sorting, drill-down functionality, cross-tabs, and summary reporting.
• Support existing SSRS reports and SSIS ETL packages.
• Assist with SOA integration initiatives and system modernization efforts.

• 10+ years of overall IT experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on Tableau development experience.
• 5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries.
• 5+ years of expertise with:
• T-SQL
• SSRS
• SSIS
• Talend
• Strong experience troubleshooting and optimizing query performance.
• Experience deploying SSIS packages using:
• Git version control
• Environment variables
• SQL Server Agent jobs
• Experience creating, deploying, and maintaining Talend solutions.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Database Design
• Data Modeling
• ETL/ELT Architecture
• Data Warehousing Concepts
• Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS) version control.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive projects from requirements to implementation.
• Experience working in Agile/SDLC environments.

Preferred Skills:

• Salesforce experience.
• MuleSoft experience.
• Experience accessing and integrating data from DB2 and multiple database platforms.
• Child Welfare or Government/Public Sector experience.
