Senior Field Engineer

About The Company We're an early-stage, YC-backed hardware company building robotics hardware for demanding field environments. Our systems are in trials with units now. You'd be the person who keeps them working, and who tells engineering the truth about what happens when they leave the lab.

This is a hands-on role. You should thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, be comfortable making decisions independently, and bring the energy, attitude, and ownership to build a field engineering operation from the ground up.

What You'll Do

• Run field testing across customers and military units
• Stay hands-on with testing, diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshooting of electromechanical hardware
• Ensure units are kept operational and technical problems in the field are resolved quickly
• Turn field failures, test results, and user feedback into structured information the engineering team can act on, on a constant basis
• Maintain strong working relationships with customers and military users and follow issues through to resolution
• Decide when to go out in person and when to stay at base, and work with local contacts to run tests quickly
• Keep spares, tools, diagnostic equipment, and the Kyiv field workspace organized and ready
• Build simple processes for testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication
• Work closely with the Country Director and the international engineering team to keep information flowing between the field and engineering
• Take ownership of problems and make fast, practical decisions without waiting for detailed direction

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on experience with electromechanical hardware, field engineering, testing, repair, or a related technical discipline
• Clear track record of success, with concrete examples of results
• Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and good working English
• Positive attitude, high energy, and willingness to work long hours
• Comfortable working directly with customers and technical users in the field
• Based in Kyiv and able to work from our office every day

Bonus

• Leadership ability, such as mentoring, training or leading others, with the potential to guide additional field engineers as the team grows
• Experience with military or defense hardware in the field
• Comfortable with bench-level electronics, soldering, firmware flashing and reading logs to diagnose faults
• Highly organized, resourceful and willing to step in wherever needed
• Steady under pressure and able to make good decisions without waiting for direction
• Strong relationship-building skills with customers, partners and military users

Additional Requirements

• Full time, based in Kyiv
• Travel across the country, including near contested areas
