Senior Finance Manager

📍 Location: Lingen, Germany

We’re currently supporting the search for a Senior Finance Manager for a major industrial site in Lingen.

The role sits very close to the operational business and is less about traditional accounting leadership and more about performance, commercial decision-making and acting as a senior finance partner to the site leadership team.

You’ll be working with leaders across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Commercial functions, helping to understand what is driving performance, where improvements are needed and how Finance can support better business decisions.

About the Role:

The focus of the role is on the financial and commercial performance of the site.

You’ll be responsible for bringing together financial insight, operational understanding and business priorities, while working closely with both local and international teams.

This includes:

• Supporting the site leadership team on key financial and commercial decisions
• Driving financial performance and identifying areas for improvement
• Challenging performance gaps and helping develop practical improvement plans
• Supporting planning, forecasting, reporting and benchmarking activities
• Working with finance teams based both locally and internationally
• Supporting investment decisions and wider strategic topics
• Helping develop finance capability across the organisation

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong experience in commercial finance, controlling, FP&A or finance business partnering
• Experience within manufacturing, production, energy, chemicals, refining or another complex industrial environment
• A background working closely with Plant, Site or Operations leadership
• Experience improving financial or operational performance
• Strong stakeholder management and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues when needed
• Experience working in an international or matrix organisation
• Fluent German and English

Direct refinery experience would be useful, but it isn’t essential. What matters more is a strong understanding of complex industrial environments and how Finance can influence business performance.

What We’re Looking For:

You may currently be working as a Site Finance Manager, Plant Finance Manager, Head of Finance, Finance Director, Senior Finance Business Partner or Plant Controller.

The exact title is less important than the type of role you have been doing.

We’re looking for someone who has worked close to the operational business, understands the drivers behind performance and is comfortable working with senior leaders across different functions.

Because this is a visible role within the site leadership team, regular presence in Lingen is important.
