Senior Financial Accounting & Regulatory Reporting Specialist (Insurance) – Mila

About the role

We are currently supporting a leading international financial institution in the search for a Senior Financial Accounting & Regulatory Reporting Specialist to join their teams in Italy.

This role sits at the crossroads of technical accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, with a strong focus on the insurance sector.

Key responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Manage and produce balance sheet and financial reporting in compliance with local and international standards

• Apply advanced accounting principles, including IFRS 9 (including non-standard applications)

• Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data related to investment portfolios

• Contribute to group reporting processes, including Solvency II reporting

Accounting, Treasury & Reinsurance

• Oversee general and technical accounting activities (insurance scope)

• Manage treasury-related accounting flows

• Handle tax and VAT compliance, ensuring adherence to local regulations

• Monitor and control reinsurance operations and related financial data

• Perform first-level controls and ensure consistency with internal procedures

Regulatory & Capital Management

• Support capital requirement calculations and regulatory reporting

• Ensure compliance with European and local regulatory frameworks (e.g. EIOPA, IVASS)

• Participate in internal and external audits

• Identify and report operational incidents or discrepancies

Profile

Required experience

• 5–10+ years of experience in financial accounting within insurance or financial services

• Strong expertise in technical accounting and financial instruments

• Proven experience with IFRS 9 and Solvency II

• Experience in reinsurance and regulatory reporting

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail and control mindset

• Ability to work in complex, international environments

• Fluent in English (Italian is a strong plus)

Nice to have

• Experience within large international groups (e.g. banking or insurance leaders)

• Knowledge of specific internal reporting tools or frameworks

• Familiarity with Italian regulatory environment
