Senior Fire and Security Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Systems Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of access control, fire alarm and intruder alarm systems.

This is a senior position suited to an engineer who can work independently, manage installations and maintenance projects, diagnose complex faults and deliver high-quality work across a variety of sites.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of security and fire systems, excellent fault-finding abilities and the confidence to take ownership of jobs from initial installation through to commissioning and handover.

Duties

• Install, service, maintain and repair access control, fire alarm and intruder alarm systems.
• Carry out fault finding, diagnostics and system upgrades across a range of equipment.
• Undertake installation works, including cabling, containment, wiring, device installation and system configuration.
• Commission and test systems, ensuring they operate correctly and meet relevant standards.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive call-outs.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Complete system testing, inspections and commissioning documentation.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, health and safety requirements and company procedures.
• Liaise professionally with clients, site managers and other contractors.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers.
• Take responsibility for jobs from installation through to completion and customer handover.
• Identify opportunities for system improvements, upgrades and additional works.
• Maintain accurate service reports, job sheets and installation records.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Security Systems Engineer or Senior Engineer.
• Strong hands-on experience with access control systems.
• Good working knowledge of fire alarm systems, including installation, servicing and fault finding.
• Experience installing and maintaining intruder alarm systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring and system schematics.
• Experience with system commissioning, testing and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to work independently and manage jobs effectively.
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
