About the Job

Firmware Architects play a critical role in defining and delivering industry-leading HPE server platforms. As a Firmware Architect at HPE , you will provide technical leadership for the firmware architecture of our Gen13 servers , helping resolve complex, system-level trade-offs early in the product design lifecycle.

You will work across firmware, hardware, operating system, and platform-management technologies to define architectures that deliver scalability, performance, security, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

This position provides the opportunity to influence architecture across multiple platforms and organizations, evaluate emerging technologies, establish technical direction, and collaborate with engineering teams, technical leaders, development partners, and business leadership.

About You

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent .
• Typically 10+ years of relevant software, firmware, embedded systems, or platform architecture experience .
• Must have Linux Kernel experience.
• Must have Yocto / Yocto Project experience.
• In-depth knowledge of OpenBMC environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Redfish standards .
• Strong background in server, platform, embedded, or systems firmware architecture .
• Proven experience designing firmware or software architectures that span multiple platforms and technology stacks .
• Proven experience scaling firmware across multiple management processors on scalable systems .
• Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction and system-level design trade-offs.
• Experience defining, reviewing, and driving architecture and design specifications.
• Strong knowledge of software and firmware testing methodologies.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) .
• Experience with debugging, test plans, test scripts, and development/testing tools.
• Experience with secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
• Proven experience incorporating AI into software or firmware development and testing cycles .
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and determine their applicability to product and architecture roadmaps.
• Ability to review engineering designs for compliance with architecture, development guidelines, and technical standards.
• Strong technical leadership capabilities with experience guiding and mentoring other engineers.
• Ability to communicate complex product architectures and design proposals to technical, business, and executive-level stakeholders.
• Demonstrated history of innovation through successfully deployed solutions and/or patents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

**MUST have both Linux Kernel and Yocto experience to be considered.**

• Develop and influence firmware architectures and methodologies across HPE server platforms.
• Drive architectural decisions for complex, system-level firmware challenges.
• Identify technical trade-offs early in the design process to reduce risk and improve product quality.
• Design for scalability across multiple management processors and scalable server systems .
• Evaluate new technologies and innovations for alignment with technical roadmaps and business objectives.
• Review designs and engineering activities for compliance with development standards and architecture.
• Help drive test-driven development, secure development practices, and AI-enabled development/testing .
• Influence architectural decisions across engineering organizations and development partners.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the organization.
• Communicate architecture, technical strategy, recommendations, and trade-offs to senior and executive stakeholders.
