Position Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Flutter Developer to help build, optimize, and scale a feature-rich social media application.

This is not a UI-only development position. The successful candidate must understand complete mobile product architecture, real-time communication, media processing, performance optimization, security, automated testing, deployment, and production monitoring.

The developer will take end-to-end ownership of major features and collaborate with backend developers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, product managers, and infrastructure teams.

Mandatory Experience

Candidates must have:

• 10+ years of overall software or mobile application development experience
• 5+ years of hands-on production experience with Flutter and Dart
• Proven experience building and maintaining large, production-ready mobile applications
• Experience working on a live social media, community, video, creator, marketplace, or content-based application
• Experience publishing and maintaining applications on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
• Experience working with an existing large codebase and improving its architecture, performance, and maintainability
• Demonstrated ownership of features from technical planning through production release and monitoring

Flutter and Mobile Architecture

• Advanced knowledge of Flutter, Dart, widgets, rendering, isolates, streams, asynchronous programming, and application lifecycle
• Strong understanding of native Android and iOS architecture
• Ability to write or modify native Kotlin, Java, Swift, or Objective-C code when necessary
• Strong experience with scalable state management such as Riverpod, BLoC/Cubit, Provider, Redux, or an equivalent solution
• Ability to evaluate and select the appropriate state-management approach
• Strong understanding of Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, dependency injection, modular architecture, and design patterns
• Experience building reusable design systems, component libraries, and shared application modules
• Experience with Flutter build flavors, environment management, feature flags, and remote configuration
• Experience with deep links, universal links, app links, and navigation architecture
• Knowledge of localization, internationalization, accessibility, and responsive layouts

Social Media Features

The candidate must have experience implementing several of the following:

• Personalized content feeds
• Short-form videos and reels
• Stories and temporary content
• User profiles and account management
• Following, followers, blocking, reporting, and privacy controls
• Likes, reactions, comments, replies, mentions, hashtags, and sharing
• Content discovery, search, categories, and recommendations

• Push and in-app notifications
• Creator tools and content publishing
• Drafts, scheduled posts, bookmarks, and saved content
• Live engagement, viewer counts, reactions, moderation, and reporting
• Infinite scrolling, pagination, prefetching, and feed caching
• Content moderation and community-safety workflows

Video, Audio and Media Experience

Strong experience is required in:

• Video playback and adaptive streaming
• HLS, WebRTC, or similar streaming technologies
• Video and audio recording
• Camera and microphone integration
• Video trimming, cropping, editing, and merging
• Filters, effects, stickers, overlays, and beauty effects
• Audio synchronization and voice effects
• Media compression and transcoding workflows
• Thumbnail generation and media previews
• Background and resumable uploads
• Image and video upload progress
• Media caching and preloading
• Handling large files and unstable network connections
• Secure media URLs and access control
• Device permissions and platform-specific media behavior

Experience with LiveKit, Agora, WebRTC, FFmpeg, AVFoundation, ExoPlayer, or similar technologies is highly preferred.

API and Real-Time Integration

• Advanced experience integrating REST APIs
• Experience with WebSockets, Socket.IO, GraphQL subscriptions, or other real-time technologies
• Strong knowledge of JSON serialization, authentication, pagination, caching, retries, and error handling
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, token refresh, and secure session management
• Ability to implement offline and poor-network support
• Experience handling API versioning and backward compatibility
• Knowledge of background services, background uploads, and background notifications
• Ability to coordinate mobile implementation with backend API contracts

Performance and Scalability

The candidate must be able to identify, measure, and resolve performance problems involving:

• Slow application startup
• Dropped frames and UI jank
• Excessive widget rebuilding
• High memory or battery usage
• Memory leaks
• Large feeds and media-heavy lists
• Network latency and excessive API requests
• Video buffering and playback failures
• Image loading and caching
• Background processing
• Application size
• Low-end device performance

Experience using Flutter DevTools, Android Profiler, Xcode Instruments, Firebase Performance Monitoring, or similar tools is required.

Testing and Code Quality

• Strong experience writing unit, widget, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Ability to establish code-review and engineering standards
• Experience with testable architecture, mocking, and dependency injection
• Strong knowledge of static analysis, linting, formatting, and code-quality tools
• Ability to review pull requests and mentor other mobile developers
• Experience refactoring legacy code without disrupting production functionality
• Ability to write clear technical documentation and architecture decisions

Git, CI/CD and Release Management

• Advanced knowledge of Git, GitHub or GitLab
• Experience with professional branching, pull-request, code-review, and release strategies
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, builds, signing, and deployment
• Experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Codemagic, Fastlane, or equivalent
• Strong understanding of Android and iOS certificates, signing, provisioning, and release processes
• Experience managing development, staging, UAT, and production environments
• Experience with phased releases, rollback planning, and emergency production fixes
• Experience managing App Store and Google Play review requirements

Firebase and Production Monitoring

Experience with the following is strongly preferred:

• Secure API and network communication
• Certificate pinning where appropriate
• Rooted and jailbroken device considerations
• Prevention of secrets being embedded in application code
• Protection against common mobile security vulnerabilities
• Understanding of OWASP Mobile Application Security principles
• Knowledge of privacy, user consent, camera, microphone, location, and data-retention requirements

Leadership and Ownership

The successful candidate must be able to:

• Convert product requirements and Figma designs into scalable technical solutions
• Estimate work accurately and identify technical dependencies
• Take end-to-end ownership of assigned modules
• Make and document sound architectural decisions
• Review code and support junior and mid-level developers
• Troubleshoot complex production problems
• Communicate risks, blockers, and progress clearly
• Collaborate effectively with backend, QA, design, infrastructure, and product teams

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
