Senior Foundry Engineer

Location: Remote, LATAM (Mexico City business hours) Engagement: Full time, long term contract Languages: Fluent Spanish required. Strong professional English.

About the role

Flylance is hiring a Senior Foundry Engineer for a large enterprise client in transportation infrastructure. You will own production pipelines and Ontology models in Palantir Foundry, from business requirement to deployed data product. You will work with business squads, data governance, and platform providers, and mentor junior analysts building use cases on the platform.

This is a hands on engineering role. We want people who have built and run pipelines in production, not only analyzed data in Foundry.

What you will do

• Translate business requirements into data models, pipelines, and reusable Ontology objects.
• Build transforms in Code Repositories (Python, PySpark, SQL) and Pipeline Builder, following engineering best practices.
• Design, deploy, and monitor data and AI pipelines with clear metrics, SLAs, and documented lineage.
• Optimize pipelines for performance, cost, stability, and data quality.
• Automate recurring processes through production pipelines and CI/CD, within security and governance standards.
• Build Workshop applications and dashboards that support decisions and metric tracking.
• Keep deliverables aligned with the Ontology and corporate semantic model across Foundry and Databricks.
• Lead functional testing, code reviews, and user validation.
• Document datasets, pipelines, Ontology logic, versions, and architectural decisions.
• Identify automation, advanced analytics, and generative AI opportunities across business units.
• Present findings to leadership with clear conclusions, recommendations, and next steps.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to engineering standards.

What you bring

• 3+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or analytics platforms.
• Proven hands on production experience in Palantir Foundry: Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, and Ontology (object types, link types, actions).
• Advanced Python and PySpark for pipeline development and automation.
• Advanced SQL for large scale transformation and validation.
• Solid data modeling, distributed processing (Spark), and performance tuning.
• Git, CI/CD, testing, and technical documentation as standard practice.
• Experience with Workshop and Contour.
• Working knowledge of data quality, privacy, security, and AI governance practices.
• Clear communication with technical and business audiences, in Spanish and English.
• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Databricks and Azure in production.
• Palantir AIP (AIP Logic, LLM backed functions) or other generative AI delivery.
• Foundry Functions (TypeScript or Python) and Ontology writeback through Actions.
• Experience mentoring or leading a small data team.
