Role Summary

Alten Ltd is in search of a Senior FP&A Analyst to join our Finance team in London. You will be instrumental in our budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting, turning data into clear insight that drives decisions across the business. Combining sound technical accounting with outstanding Excel, systems, and data skills, you will play a key role in automating and modernising how we report, including the practical use of AI. This is an individual contributor role with no direct line management responsibilities, and a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to build their career in a company with strong core values of Excellence, Accountability, Integrity, and Service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, building and maintaining robust, driver-based models.
• Produce the monthly management reporting pack, including variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year.
• Analyse G&A (General and Administration) costs and headcount trends, providing clear commentary on key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Own and develop KPI reporting and dashboards, ensuring data is accurate, timely and decision-ready.
• Work closely with Finance Business Partners and budget holders, translating financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
• Build financial models to support scenario analysis, pricing, and investment decisions.
• Extract, cleanse, and reconcile data from ERP and source systems to provide a single version of the truth.
• Automate recurring reporting and analysis using Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI, reducing manual effort and risk.
• Identify and apply AI tools to improve the speed and quality of forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
• Support month-end close and work in progress (WIP) review to ensure reported results are complete and accurate.
• Support Group reporting submissions, audit requests, and other ad hoc analysis.

Qualifications & Experience

• Newly qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
• 4+ years of experience in an FP&A, management accounting, or financial analysis role.
• Advanced Excel skills are essential.
• Strong data skills, with experience handling and reconciling large datasets from multiple sources.
• Experience of ERP systems (SAP and Salesforce preferred) and BI tools such as Power BI.
• Demonstrable use of AI tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, Claude) to automate tasks or enhance analysis.
• Experience within Management Consultancy or professional services is desirable

This role will require you to have or be willing to go through BPSS and Security Clearance. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard; details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website Gov.UK.
