Senior Freight Forwarding import/export operation

Position Overview

We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused professional to manage our ocean and air import/export operations. This role requires a proactive problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and can also contribute to business growth through customer retention and occasional sales outreach. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, with a strong focus on international ocean and air shipments.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with overseas partners via email to secure bookings and sailing schedules.
• Keep customers informed of bookings, sailing schedules, and competitive rate options.
• Manage pre-alerts and ensure timely Importer Security Filing (ISF) submissions.
• Oversee the receipt and input of pre-alert data into company systems.
• Prepare arrival notices, facilitate customs clearance, and manage final deliveries.
• Provide customers with weekly shipment status updates and real-time communication.
• Handle accurate invoicing and maintain up-to-date cost and rate information.
• Demonstrate expertise in ocean export operations, including ACE filing.
• Deliver exceptional customer service at every stage of the shipment process.
• Manage shipments from initiation through final delivery.
• Act as the primary point of contact for both existing and potential clients.
• Draft professional correspondence and maintain a high level of communication.
• Make sales calls as needed to support customer retention and growth.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of freight forwarding experience, with a strong focus on ocean import/export.
• Preferred: 2+ years using Freight Stream system and Chinese bilingual is a plus but not required.
• In-depth knowledge of import/export processes and freight forwarding regulations.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Skilled in cost and rate analysis using computer-based tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); typing speed of 40+ WPM.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Professional writing ability for effective customer and partner communication.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
