Senior Front-End Engineer – React.js / Headless CMS / CDN

Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario – Mostly Remote

Pay Rate: Up to CAD $60/hour (based on experience)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Front-End Engineer to design, develop and optimize large-scale, customer-facing web applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with React.js, headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, and CDN technologies such as Akamai or Cloudflare, along with expertise in building high-performance, accessible and SEO-friendly websites.

You will collaborate with product, design, backend, content and DevOps teams to deliver scalable, reusable and responsive front-end solutions.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of hands-on front-end development experience.
• Strong expertise in React.js, including hooks, component architecture, state management and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience integrating headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, Strapi, Contentstack, Prismic or Adobe AEM Headless.
• Experience integrating web applications with CDNs such as Akamai, Cloudflare, AWS CloudFront or equivalent platforms.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience developing large-scale, production-grade, customer-facing web applications.
• Experience integrating RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), technical SEO and web performance optimization.
• Experience building reusable UI components and shared component libraries.
• Proficiency with Git, code reviews and modern software development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, maintainable React applications and reusable front-end components.
• Integrate CMS-managed content into React applications using headless CMS APIs.
• Optimize website performance through caching, code splitting, lazy loading, image optimization and efficient asset delivery.
• Support CDN integration, content caching and global web application delivery.
• Implement responsive, accessible and SEO-friendly user interfaces.
• Integrate front-end applications with REST and GraphQL services.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, backend developers, content teams and QA.
• Troubleshoot production issues, performance bottlenecks and application defects.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, automated testing and CI/CD processes.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Next.js, including server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG).
• Experience with WYSIWYG page builders, visual authoring tools or drag-and-drop content editors.
• A/B testing and experimentation tools such as Optimizely, Adobe Target or LaunchDarkly.
• Personalization and content targeting capabilities.
• AWS services, particularly CloudFront, S3 and Lambda.
• TypeScript, Storybook and design systems.
• Automated front-end testing using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or Playwright.
• Experience improving Core Web Vitals.
• Experience with multilingual or multi-region websites.

Pay: $55.00-$60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
