Senior Full Stack C# Developer – FX Trading Technology

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack C# Developer to join a high-performing technology team within a leading Tier 1 investment bank, working on critical FX trading technology.

The role will focus on extending and ultimately replacing an existing legacy application built using C#, WPF and backend services. You will work closely with another engineer to develop new functionality, improve existing systems and progressively modernise the application.

This is a hands-on development opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working across both frontend and backend technologies, tackling legacy code and delivering robust solutions in a demanding financial markets environment.

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance existing C# applications across frontend and backend services.
• Build and maintain user interfaces using WPF.
• Extend application functionality to meet evolving business and technical requirements.
• Contribute to the rewriting and replacement of legacy code as part of an ongoing modernisation programme.
• Develop and integrate services using REST and SOAP APIs.
• Improve the quality, maintainability and performance of existing applications.
• Collaborate closely with another engineer to deliver enhancements and support the evolution of the platform.
• Work within a high-performing technology team supporting FX trading systems.

Requirements Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET development.
• Full stack software development experience, covering frontend and backend components.
• Hands-on experience developing desktop applications using WPF.
• Experience developing and integrating REST and SOAP web services.
• Experience enhancing, maintaining or modernising existing applications and legacy codebases.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver high-quality, maintainable software.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with other engineers.

Nice to have Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within investment banking or financial services.
• Exposure to FX trading technology or other capital markets applications.
• Experience working on the replacement or modernisation of legacy trading systems.
• An understanding of the performance, reliability and latency considerations associated with financial markets technology.
