Senior Full Stack Engineer *

Position Description

CGI is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong Performance Engineering expertise to support enterprise applications in an AWS based financial services environment. This role combines hands on software engineering with performance testing, analysis, troubleshooting, and application optimization.

This position is required in one of the following locations: Reston, VA

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $109,500.00 $123,200.00.

Your future duties and responsibilities

The engineer will develop and execute end to end performance tests, analyze application behavior, and identify bottlenecks across integrated systems, microservices, databases, and AWS services. The role requires the ability to investigate performance issues beyond the testing layer, determine root causes, and recommend or implement appropriate remediation.

Responsibilities include tuning and refactoring Java applications, optimizing PostgreSQL queries, reviewing AWS configurations, and working across application components to improve overall system performance. The engineer will retest after remediation to validate improvements and provide clear, data driven recommendations when additional changes are needed.

This position is well suited for a Full Stack Engineer with substantial performance engineering experience or a Performance Engineer with a strong software development background who can investigate and troubleshoot application code and supporting technologies.

• 5+ years of full stack software engineering background with hands on experience developing, troubleshooting, and improving enterprise applications.
• Strong Java development skills, particularly for backend services, APIs, and application performance tuning.
• Hands on Performance Engineering experience, including developing, maintaining, and executing end to end performance and load test scripts.
• Ability to identify performance bottlenecks across integrated systems, microservices, APIs, databases, and cloud services.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to translate performance findings into actionable remediation recommendations.
• Experience profiling and refactoring application code to address performance, scalability, and resource utilization issues.
• Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including query analysis, execution plans, indexing, and database performance tuning.
• Hands on experience with AWS, including investigating and tuning application and cloud configurations that affect performance.
• Experience with microservices and distributed applications, including tracing transactions and dependencies across multiple services.
• Experience with performance testing and application monitoring tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch, or comparable technologies.
• Ability to establish performance baselines, analyze test results and application metrics, implement or recommend remediation, and retest to demonstrate improvement.
• Working knowledge of front-end application technologies sufficient to investigate performance issues across the full application stack.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain performance findings, root causes, and recommended remediation to development and technical teams.
• Financial services or other large scale, highly regulated enterprise application experience is preferred.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
