Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (Python / React / AWS)

Manchester OR Croydon | Hybrid (2 days per week)

We're partnering with an innovative technology business that develops advanced intelligence and information platforms used by organisations around the world to support critical decision-making.

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer , you'll join a collaborative engineering team responsible for building and evolving both user-facing applications and backend services across a complex, data-rich platform. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work across the full technology stack, developing modern React applications, scalable Python services and cloud-native AWS solutions.

This is not an AI/ML Engineer, Data Scientist or Prompt Engineering position. We're looking for a software engineer who enjoys building high-quality products end-to-end, from intuitive user interfaces through to secure APIs, backend services and production systems.

Working within a cross-functional agile environment, you'll help shape architecture, engineering standards and service design whilst partnering closely with product, platform and engineering teams. You'll be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment, monitoring and production support within a genuine "you build it, you own it" culture.

You'll contribute to the development of business-critical applications handling complex data, large-scale processing workloads and cloud-native orchestration platforms, helping to deliver secure, scalable and highly available solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

• Developing modern full-stack applications using React, TypeScript and Python.
• Building scalable backend services and REST APIs.
• Designing and delivering end-to-end features across frontend and backend systems.
• Creating orchestration and workflow capabilities using AWS cloud-native services.
• Building highly available, event-driven solutions and distributed services.
• Working with large datasets, complex processing workflows and modern data architectures.
• Supporting solutions through deployment, monitoring and production operation.
• Collaborating with engineers, product teams and stakeholders to shape technical direction.
• Contributing to architecture decisions, engineering standards and code quality initiatives.
• Mentoring engineers and participating in code reviews.

Skills Required

• Strong commercial experience developing backend applications using Python .
• Strong frontend engineering experience using React and TypeScript .
• Experience delivering features across both frontend and backend systems.
• Experience designing, building and consuming REST APIs .
• Strong knowledge of AWS and cloud-native development practices.
• Experience building orchestration and workflow systems using cloud-native services.
• Experience working with event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Experience working with large datasets, data pipelines and complex processing workflows.
• Experience integrating third-party platforms and services via APIs.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practice, including testing, maintainability, observability and security.
• Experience supporting and operating production systems.
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering standards.
• Understanding of authentication, authorisation and security within distributed systems.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform .
