Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

Spectrum Search is partnered with a well-backed AI technology company seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to build customer-facing products and shape engineering standards as the business scales.

Engineers take ownership from identifying customer needs through to deployment and iteration. This opportunity suits a hands-on builder who wants meaningful influence over product direction, architecture and technical quality.

The role

You will design and deliver features across web, mobile and backend systems, working with TypeScript, React or React Native, Python or Node.js, and PostgreSQL.

Working within a flat engineering structure, you will engage directly with customers and make product decisions without a dedicated product management layer. Alongside delivery, you will provide technical guidance, mentor colleagues and establish patterns that support a growing engineering team.

The scope may extend to staff-level responsibilities for candidates demonstrating the appropriate technical depth and leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Own customer-facing features from problem definition and technical design through to production delivery and ongoing improvement.
• Build intuitive web and mobile experiences supported by reliable backend services.
• Develop processing, storage and data systems that support AI-enabled products.
• Work directly with customers to understand workflows, assess priorities and validate product decisions.
• Improve architecture, code quality and engineering practices through hands-on contribution and technical mentoring.
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure, deployment workflows and development tooling.
• Collaborate across product areas, balancing immediate customer needs with longer-term maintainability and scale.

Essential requirements

• Demonstrable experience delivering production software with the autonomy and judgement expected of a senior engineer.
• A track record of shipping complete, user-facing products or substantial new features across the full stack.
• Strong production experience with TypeScript and React or React Native, alongside Python or Node.js.
• Experience building with PostgreSQL and deploying services on AWS.
• Evidence of ownership in a startup or similarly entrepreneurial product environment, including taking ideas through to launch.
• Confidence making technical decisions, explaining trade-offs and supporting less experienced engineers.
• Willingness to speak directly with customers and take responsibility for both what gets built and how it works.
• A clear preference for hands-on individual contribution.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience founding a business or leading technology development for a venture-backed startup with real customer traction.
• Expertise in audio processing, mobile audio capture or data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub Actions or comparable infrastructure and deployment tooling.

Location and remote setup

This is a full-time position based in New York City, with five days per week in the office. Candidates must be based locally or willing to relocate. Relocation support is available.
