Senior Fullstack (Node/Typescript/Angular)

Our client is seeking a contract based Senior Software Developer to support the modernization, migration, and ongoing delivery of business-critical applications. This is a highly hands-on engineering role requiring strong Node.js and Angular expertise and cloud-native deployment experience.

Duration: 6 months to start

Location: Mainly remote (occasional visit to Toronto office)

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modernize, and support applications using Node.js, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript , and related technologies.
• Lead application and framework upgrades, including dependency analysis, compatibility assessments, remediation, and identification of potential breaking changes.
• Support the migration and retirement of legacy applications, including identifying opportunities to consolidate unnecessary microservices and reuse existing platform capabilities.
• Deploy and operate applications within Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) using Azure Container Registry (ACR), Kubernetes, Helm, and GitHub Actions .
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated deployments, environment promotion, application versioning, secrets management, patching, rollback, and production releases.
• Investigate application logs, monitoring alerts, performance issues, and user-reported incidents to diagnose and resolve production problems.
• Identify and remediate application, code, container, and third-party dependency vulnerabilities.
• Work with MongoDB and other NoSQL technologies to query, aggregate, analyze, and report on application data, including supporting data-driven dashboards.
• Integrate third-party applications and services, including SSO and identity integrations , APIs, client-specific configurations, and branding requirements.
• Translate client onboarding and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Own delivery across the full lifecycle: requirements, architecture, development, testing, deployment, migration, and production support.
• Provide technical guidance through architecture discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and mentoring while managing delivery risks and deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with significant experience building and supporting production applications.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Node.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript .
• Strong experience with Angular , including application and framework upgrades.
• Demonstrated experience modernizing or migrating legacy applications and assessing existing application architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Azure AKS, ACR, Kubernetes, Helm, and containerized application delivery .
• Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines , ideally using GitHub Actions .
• Experience with production deployments, environment management, secrets management, patching, versioning, and rollback strategies.
• Strong MongoDB / NoSQL experience, including complex queries, aggregation, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
• Experience integrating third-party applications, APIs, and SSO/identity solutions .
• Strong understanding of secure software development practices, vulnerability remediation, and dependency management.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot production applications using logs, monitoring, alerts, and application telemetry.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments and deliver against tight timelines.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide technical leadership while remaining highly hands-on

Security & Responsible AI

• Experience working with applications that handle sensitive or regulated information.
• Understanding of secure development practices and protection of sensitive data, including Protected Health Information (PHI) where applicable.
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools responsibly within organizational security, privacy, and governance requirements.
• Understanding of the risks associated with exposing proprietary, confidential, or sensitive information to AI tools.

Nice to Have

• Development experience with Go and/or Java .
• Experience migrating or modernizing applications written in multiple technology stacks.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-to-cloud migrations.
• Experience within healthcare, health technology, digital health, or digital therapy platforms .
• Experience rationalizing microservice architectures and identifying opportunities for service consolidation.
• Experience with observability, application performance monitoring, and production reliability practices.
