Senior Fund Accountant

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Fund Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
• Manage general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes using financial software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero.
• Conduct detailed account analysis and variance analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities in fund transactions.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections while maintaining compliance with internal controls like SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act).
• Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analyses to monitor liquidity positions accurately.
• Support regulatory reporting obligations by preparing required filings related to securities law, governmental accounting standards, or other relevant regulations.
• Mentor junior team members by providing guidance on technical accounting issues, fostering professional development in areas such as non-profit accounting, corporate finance, or private equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Extensive experience in financial accounting within public accounting firms or corporate finance environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency with financial software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms; strong Excel skills including data analysis functions like VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
• Deep understanding of GAAP principles, double-entry bookkeeping, technical accounting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of specialized areas such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), Wills & Trusts law, securities law, governmental accounting standards or non-profit accounting practices is a plus.
• Ability to interpret complex financial statements and reports accurately; experience with financial report writing and analysis essential.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for mentoring team members and collaborating across departments involved in auditing, tax preparation, or regulatory reporting.

Pay: $88,176.66 - $106,191.25 per year
