Senior Garment Technologist (Womenswear)

Job Responsibility Including But Not Limited To:

• Ensure factory has a full understanding of the development process
• Work with designer, development merchandisers and factories to ensure a detailed and accurate sample pack is given out 1st time
• Clear instructions re stitching and finishing
• Correct block reference
• Accurate size specification
• Good detailed illustrations where necessary (this will result in minimum queries from factory and an accurate development sample being delivered on time)
• Assist factories at every stage of development / fit process to ensure a smooth approval process
• Ensure there is no conflicting information regarding development
• Accurately measure and log measurements in W/B before sending sample to UK office
• Ensure that critical path is updated and be responsible for liaising with merchandisers to chase factories for samples to be in HK office in plenty of time to check throughly against UK comments before being submitted to UK for fit approval
• Clear comments / suggestions are made in workbook for UK technologist to refer to when fitting sample
• Working with UK technologist to ensure the most effective route for approval is taken Red, Amber, Green, keep open lines of communication at all times
• Review comments from UK technologist and ensure all points are clearly explained to our factories
• Maintain sample progress sheets and update QAIS
• Monitor the success of each supplier in connection to sample accuracy and meeting set dates on the critical path
• Generate and maintain be accountable for workbook consolidation and maintenance from white seal / first fit sample request through to gold seal
• Be responsible for constructive work book comments, ensuring autonomy at all times, i.e. route process (Red, Amber, Green)
• Be responsible for supervising development technician and training all members in the use of the Workbook
• Ensure all information is consolidated and accurate from white seal to gold seal, addressing problems as they arise
• Know the critical path system and monitor sample progress. Be responsible for preventing potential delays with a valid reason
• Continually strive for a high standard of samples and implement ways of achieving this, so that we have a fit first time approach
• Ensure an open line of communication is kept at all times
• Be responsible and confident that samples are correctly reviewed before sending to UK
• Keep good records of sample rejection / approval and action any problems with factory

Skills & Requirements

• Degree holder of textiles/fabric studies or equivalent
• At least 8 years’ experience in on quality assurance and control processes for Womenswear
• Hands-on experience, energetic, proactive and decisive working style
• Good people skills, especially in communication and good fashion sense
• Detail-oriented, well-organized and analytical, able to work under pressure & meet tight deadlines
• Good command of written and spoken English & Mandarin
