What they need

Senior Graphics Engineer – WebGPU | Real-Time Rendering / C++ / Vulkan / Game Engines

About the Role

Our client is a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, pioneering advanced R&D projects through its specialized research facilities. Operating within an innovative research ecosystem, their team focuses on medium- to long-term technological breakthroughs across next-generation graphics, telecom, cloud, and smart devices.

They are seeking a Senior Graphics Engineer on a contract basis to take a hands-on role in the implementation, architecture, and optimization of their WebGPU initiatives. In this position, you will drive the technical direction of WebGPU integration for performance-critical applications, with a heavy emphasis on lightweight and mini-game runtime environments.

This role offers a balance of deep technical execution, applied research autonomy, and high-impact technology delivery.

  • Key ResponsibilitiesWebGPU Implementation & Optimization: Lead the development and optimization of high-performance rendering pipelines utilizing WebGPU, specifically targeted at lightweight mini-game engines and web-based platforms.
  • Applied R&D & PoCs: Propose, architect, and deliver robust Proof-of-Concept (PoC) software implementations that address real-world graphics bottlenecks and push real-time rendering capabilities.
  • Pipeline Performance Analysis: Conduct deep-dive profiling, debugging, and optimization across real-time rendering pipelines to maximize performance on constraint-heavy platforms.
  • Research to Industry Translation: Monitor cutting-edge research from top graphics conferences (e.g., SIGGRAPH, Eurographics), translating academic state-of-the-art into practical, production-ready graphics features.
  • Technical Communication: Present complex research findings and architecture proposals clearly to cross-functional engineering teams, stakeholders, and external research partners.
  • Industry Engagement: Participate in technical conferences, scientific exhibitions, and collaborative meetings with internal research units as required.
  • What We’re Looking ForEducation: BSc in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Core Systems Programming: Excellent C++ development skills with 3+ years of dedicated hands-on experience in real-time rendering or game engine development.
  • Low-Level Graphics APIs: Demonstrated expertise with Vulkan and low-level rendering concepts.
  • Game Engine Expertise: Experience working on or developing custom game engine sub-systems (practical experience with Unity engine internals/native plugins is highly preferred).
  • Multi-Language R&D Stack: Proficiency across graphics and scripting languages relevant to WebGPU ecosystems ( C++ , C# , JavaScript , GLSL , and WGSL ).
  • Problem-Solving & Specs: Ability to translate abstract graphics specs into clean, robust, and deployable code under project timelines.
  • Desirable ExtrasAdvanced Degree: MSc in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, or equivalent high-level industry experience.
  • WebGPU Track Record: Direct experience developing or experimenting with WebGPU native implementations or web runtimes.
  • Cross-Platform Gaming: Hands-on experience developing 3D graphics/games targeted at mobile, web, and desktop runtimes simultaneously.
  • Recognized Excellence: Awards or top placements in competitive programming, graphics hackathons, or open-source graphics contributions

We are currently partnered with a global technology organisation investing heavily in advanced graphics, web technologies, and next-generation interactive computing. As part of their continued R&D activities, they are looking to hire a Senior Graphics Engineer on a contract basis to take a hands-on role in the development, architecture, and optimisation of WebGPU technologies for performance-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and optimisation of high-performance rendering pipelines using WebGPU.
  • Develop graphics technologies specifically targeted at lightweight mini-game engines, web runtimes, and resource-constrained platforms.
  • Design and implement graphics engine subsystems and rendering architectures for real-time applications.
  • Develop robust Proof-of-Concept (PoC) implementations addressing complex graphics and rendering challenges.
  • Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks across real-time rendering pipelines.
  • Conduct detailed profiling, debugging, benchmarking, and optimisation of graphics workloads.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of strong hands-on experience in C++ development within real-time rendering, graphics, game engines, or related systems.
  • Strong expertise in Vulkan and low-level graphics programming concepts.
  • Deep understanding of modern real-time rendering pipelines and GPU architecture.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Direct hands-on experience developing with WebGPU or working on WebGPU native implementations, runtimes, or graphics frameworks.
  • Experience with WebGPU implementations such as Dawn, wgpu, or comparable graphics abstraction layers.
  • Experience developing graphics engines or rendering technologies for web, mobile, and desktop platforms.
