What they need
Hardware Engineer
Mango Product Development — Boston, MA
Mango Product Development is looking for a hardware engineer who isn’t satisfied building just one.
You’ll own the electronics on client products — schematic through layout, bring-up, and production — working alongside our mechanical, industrial design, and firmware teams. We take client products from a breadboard and a first article all the way to tooling, a factory, and millions of units on shelves. If the part that really gets you is making the ten-thousandth board come off the line as good as the first — that’s the job.
We’re looking for someone who truly loves to learn and gets excited about deeply understanding how things work in order to make them better.
Role & Responsibilities
Own the electronics on client products end to end — schematic capture, PCB layout, and fabrication release (Altium or KiCad), along with the schematics, documentation, and test reports that go with them
Select components and architect circuits across analog, digital, and power domains
Bring up new boards, debug hardware, and characterize performance on the bench
Support firmware and embedded software bring-up on the hardware you design
Design for manufacturability and test; work with contract manufacturers through NPI
Work directly with clients — present your work, explain your reasoning, and help steer the direction of their products
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
Minimum 3 years of experience in electronics product development
Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium or KiCad preferred)
Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and embedded systems
Comfortable with lab equipment — oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, DMMs
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Skills
Embedded firmware development (C/C++, Python)
Audio experience — amplifiers, codecs, speaker and microphone systems, acoustic testing
Familiarity with mechanical design and CAD (SolidWorks or Onshape)
Experience working with overseas contract manufacturers
Knowledge of data science principles and applications
Compensation & Benefits
Full-time W-2 position with competitive compensation and profit sharing. Every employee at Mango participates in company profits — when the work goes well, everyone shares in it.
Health insurance — 75% company-sponsored for employees, 25% for dependents
Two weeks (10 business days) of PTO, plus paid sick time
Profit sharing across the General and Contributor pools
We also care about whether you’re satisfied with what you’re actually doing here day to day — the problems you’re working on, what you’re learning, how much ownership you have. Compensation is the easy part to get right. We’d like to get the rest right too.
This role is based on-site at our Boston-area space, with occasional time at client sites.
To be considered, please submit your resume, a brief summary of your relevant experience, and a portfolio showcasing your work (if available). Applicants must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
Mango Product Development is an equal opportunity employer.
