Pay: $28.00–$35.00 per hour + commission + install bonuses
Full-Time | Monday–Friday + Rotating Saturdays

ComfortX HVAC is looking for an experienced HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team in Tucson.

This position is approximately 80% residential service and 20% installation work. The primary focus is running service calls, diagnosing equipment, completing repairs, and taking care of customers, with installation support as needed.

We are a locally owned HVAC company that is growing quickly, and we’re looking for someone who wants more than just another technician job. This is an opportunity to join a company early, become a key part of our service department, and grow into a larger role as the company continues to add technicians and service trucks.

We are looking for someone who can confidently diagnose, repair, maintain, and communicate with customers without needing constant supervision.

Compensation

• $28–$35/hour, depending on experience and ability
• 5% commission on qualifying parts/repair sales
• 3% commission on qualifying HVAC installation sales
• Installation bonuses:
• Mini-split installation: $100
• Packaged unit installation: $175
• Split-system installation: $225
• Overtime paid according to applicable law

A strong technician who takes care of customers, produces quality work, and identifies legitimate repair and replacement opportunities will have plenty of opportunity to earn beyond their hourly wage.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• Rotating Saturdays
• Full-time position

Take-Home Company Vehicle

Qualified technicians receive a company service vehicle that can be taken home, along with:

You will not be expected to supply thousands of dollars of company-level HVAC equipment out of your own pocket.

How We're Different

ComfortX is not interested in building a service department where technicians are pressured to sell customers equipment they don't need.

We believe good HVAC technicians should be able to diagnose problems, explain options honestly, make quality repairs, and let the customer make an informed decision.

We are a repair-first company.

If a system can reasonably be repaired, we want our technicians to give the customer that option.

That does not mean we don't sell equipment. When replacement genuinely makes sense, we provide customers with high-quality installation options—and technicians are rewarded for generating those opportunities.

What we don't do is:

• Require technicians to meet aggressive replacement quotas
• Push unnecessary accessories or upgrades
• Encourage technicians to condemn repairable equipment
• Turn every service call into a high-pressure sales presentation

We want technicians who are technically strong, trustworthy, and capable of building long-term relationships with customers.

What You'll Be Doing

This role is approximately 80% service and 20% installation work.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Residential HVAC diagnostic and service calls
• Air conditioning and heat pump troubleshooting
• Gas furnace troubleshooting
• Electrical diagnosis
• Refrigerant diagnosis and charging
• Preventative maintenance and inspections
• Communicating repair and replacement options clearly with customers
• Completing repairs in the field
• Identifying legitimate replacement opportunities
• Assisting with and completing HVAC installations as needed
• Supporting occasional light commercial HVAC work
• Maintaining an organized and properly stocked service vehicle
• Documenting work accurately through Housecall Pro

The majority of your week will be spent running service. Installation work will make up a smaller portion of the role and may include mini-splits, packaged units, and split-system changeouts.

What We're Looking For

The right person should be able to walk into most residential HVAC calls and confidently determine what is wrong.

Ideal candidates will have:

• Previous residential HVAC service experience
• Strong electrical troubleshooting ability
• Experience servicing split systems, package units, heat pumps, and gas furnaces
• Understanding of airflow and basic duct systems
• Proper refrigerant charging and diagnostic knowledge
• EPA 608 certification
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners
• Clean and professional appearance
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to work independently
• Pride in doing quality work

Installation experience is strongly preferred since approximately 20% of this position will involve installation work.

Experience with commercial HVAC, mini-splits, variable-speed equipment, communicating systems, refrigeration, controls, or advanced diagnostics is also valuable.
