Senior Hyper-V Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Hyper-V Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Microsoft Windows Server virtualization and enterprise infrastructure.

You will join a multi-site infrastructure transformation project focused on migrating private cloud environments from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V across data centers in the United States and Canada.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who has built and managed production Hyper-V clusters, troubleshot complex infrastructure issues, and successfully supported VMware-to-Hyper-V migrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and maintain Hyper-V hosts and Failover Clusters, including Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), Live Migration, and iSCSI/Fibre Channel SAN connectivity.
• Deploy and manage virtualization infrastructure using System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), Windows Server, and Active Directory.
• Plan and execute VMware vSphere/ESXi-to-Hyper-V migrations using Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Optimize CPU, memory, storage, and network performance following migration cutovers.
• Collaborate with Networking and Security teams on VLAN segmentation, virtual switches, firewall integration, and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot complex workloads, including legacy operating systems and SAP HANA environments.
• Automate recurring tasks using PowerShell and maintain clear technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Windows Server and virtualization experience.
• Proven experience deploying and supporting production Microsoft Hyper-V clusters.
• Practical experience migrating virtual machines and workloads from VMware vSphere/ESXi to Hyper-V.
• Working knowledge of SCVMM, Failover Clustering, Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
• Strong understanding of enterprise storage and networking, including FC/iSCSI SAN, VLANs, virtual switches, and NIC teaming.
• Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.
• PowerShell scripting skills for automation and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and customer communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft AZ-800/AZ-801 or Veeam VMCE certifications.
• Azure or AWS experience, particularly disaster recovery.
• MSP, private cloud, or multi-tenant hosting experience.
• Familiarity with FortiGate, Dell iDRAC, and Live Optics.
