What they need

Senior Identity Platform Engineer

Location: Budapest, Hungary

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite

Contract: 12-month initial contract

Engagement: LTD Company / Kft required

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Identity Platform Engineer to join a major financial services organisation in Budapest on an initial 12-month contract.

This is a senior engineering role focused on the development, deployment, maintenance and reliability of large-scale identity and directory platforms. You will work in an infrastructure/platform environment, combining strong Linux engineering, scripting, automation and DevOps practices with identity technologies.

The organisation operates identity services at significant scale, supporting hundreds of thousands of accounts and billions of requests per day, so the role will have a strong focus on reliability, security, availability and performance.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting and continuously improving global identity services, working closely with infrastructure, development, security and other engineering teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building, maintaining and optimising enterprise identity and directory services.
  • Deploying, configuring, modifying and maintaining identity platforms.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues across Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Investigating system errors and providing resolution at a senior escalation level.
  • Developing scripts and automation to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Working with Ansible, Jenkins, Git and other CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code tooling.
  • Collaborating with development teams to improve platform architecture, resilience and performance.
  • Supporting the integration of identity solutions across the wider technology environment.
  • Contributing to initiatives around security, reliability, availability and system performance.
  • Ensuring identity infrastructure aligns with security standards and business requirements.
  • Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery activities for IAM platforms.
  • Working with system owners and stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong Linux, scripting and automation background, ideally someone who has worked in infrastructure, platform or DevOps environments rather than a purely Windows or application-focused role.

Essential experience includes:

  • 5+ years' experience in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, identity or similar engineering environments.
  • Strong Linux / Unix experience, ideally Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS.
  • Strong scripting capability using Python and/or Shell scripting.
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices, particularly tools such as Jenkins and Git.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management, ideally Ansible and/or Terraform.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues within Linux environments.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and common network protocols.
  • Understanding of basic security concepts, including TLS, certificates and encryption in transit.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with developers, infrastructure teams and senior technical stakeholders.

Identity Technology

Experience with the following technologies would be advantageous, but is not expected to be a requirement for every candidate:

  • Ping Identity / Ping Directory Server
  • ForgeRock Directory Services (DS)
  • ForgeRock IDM
  • Microsoft Entra ID
  • LDAP
  • SCIM

Candidates with strong transferable experience in Linux platform engineering, automation, DevOps and infrastructure are encouraged to apply even if they have not worked directly with Ping or ForgeRock.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, business-critical identity infrastructure within a major financial services environment.

You will be working on platforms operating at significant scale, with the opportunity to influence reliability, automation, security, resilience and performance, while collaborating with experienced infrastructure, development and security engineering teams.

The role would suit a senior engineer who enjoys building and maintaining platforms rather than simply operating them, and who is comfortable working at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, networking and identity.
