Do you enjoy taking a new product from the design table to a production line that runs reliably? This is a chance to lead that work on high-reliability products used in subsea and land-based applications.
The role
You’ll join a respected engineering manufacturer as a Senior Industrial Technical Engineer. You will make sure new products are introduced into production smoothly and can be assembled and tested safely, consistently and to the right quality, cost and delivery standards.
You’ll work closely with R&D, Production, Quality, Purchasing and Health & Safety, and with external equipment suppliers. You’ll be the technical owner of the test, process and tooling solutions that make new products production-ready.
What you’ll do
- Lead industrialisation and New Product Introduction (NPI) activity, from concept and validation through to handover to production
- Influence design reviews so Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles are built in early
- Design and implement test benches, jigs, tooling, mechanical assembly processes and manufacturing equipment
- Install, commission and validate new or relocated manufacturing and test equipment
- Produce and maintain full technical documentation, including procedures, drawings, validation plans, risk assessments and maintenance documents
- Give expert support to Production and Quality on troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective actions, including failure analysis on returned products
- Oversee first-off builds and qualification units so processes are robust and repeatable
- Manage tooling and equipment procurement, from supplier engagement and quotation review through to technical sign-off
- Train production teams on test processes and tools, and lead continuous improvement projects
What you’ll bring
- A degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- A track record of developing test, tooling or manufacturing solutions
- Hands-on experience designing and applying production equipment, including tooling design, equipment validation and commissioning
- A sound understanding of electromechanical and mechanical production processes
- Experience developing tests for automatic execution
- Experience of high-voltage and low-voltage testing
- Working knowledge of FMEA, PUWER and HSE regulations and standards
- Significant experience in product design and industrialisation as an engineer
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, cellular manufacture, kaizen or 5S would be a bonus, but it isn’t essential.
What’s on offer
- A 2-year fixed-term contract
- A salary of £55,000 – £60,000
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, based in Greenwich
- 10% Bonus
- Real ownership of technical decisions in a role where your work shapes how new products are built and tested
